0,5L bottle. Tofee hops aroma. Bitter coffee bean to be remembered. Unusual taste for me. Interesting cappuccino, dark chocolate. Bitter end lasting few moment. Nice one.
Oddly light in mouthfeel, thin almost, this is a nicely bitter beer with a large nose of chocolate and roasted malt, that doesn't translate exactly to the taste in the glass. Bottle at Star Inn, Guildford. 16/11/17. Vague cheep choc aroma. Darkest brown. Thick beige head. Light bitter with a hint of sourness and some underlying sweetness. Like the aroma, the taste is of cheep chocolate, with berries and cardboard. Thin bodied. Relatively light. Fizzy carbonation. Abrupt finish. Double stout? Not even single, more like fat free. So if this is a "double stout" why is it only 5.2% - what have they doubled!? Do they have a 2.6% stout out there somewhere!?
Anyhow, looks the part - near-opaque-near-black body, holds a dense tan head.
Aroma not overly roasty - more burnt crust, toasted nuts, dark toffee, licorice, cocoa - porter territory really.
Palate starts smooth, creamy, touch of acrid roast, but gives up half way though - sort of limp & insipid by the end.
Flavours are decent with cocoa, and nuts, and toffee - just not enough oomph - slight bitterness, drying finish.
Double stout = double the disappointment.

Findings: a really pleasant stout!
A coffee coloured head - kinda like from doing the dishes. Vague subtle sweet choca-mocca aroma. A caramel - macaroon - coffee taste. Bitter hoppy after- taste with a hint of amaretti buiscuit. Great palate + finish !

Bottle, 50cl. Pours pitch black with a creamy, stable and in everyway possible delightful tan head. Good lacing and retention. Aroma: Roasty, malty with coffee, milky chocolate, earthy notes and some hoppiness. The taste is dry with chocolate and roasted malt in the flavor as you would expect. Smokey and medium bitter. Kinda classic and very English styled stout. Nothing there to surprise, just good old fashioned.

500ml bottle bought at Vinmonopolet Langnes. Rocky, bubbly, two-finger thick, fawn-coloured head with fine retention. Crocheted lacework. Black as the polar night. Chocolate malty nose, nicely roasted. Dark malty flavours of chocolate, cocoa, dark bread and a developing touch of dark fruits. Nicely roasted bitter end. Medium boded. Smooth mouth feel. Enjoying. Partagée avec mon cher Appiantiqua dans des verres "3 loups",belle robe ébène surmontée d'une mousse ivoire de bonne persistance avec une carbonatation intense.Le nez est très riche,offre des arômes de fruits noirs,chocolat et café,alcool.La bouche est à l'image du nez avec des petites notes brûlées(café à l'ancienne) nous laissant sur une courte amertume mais bonne!Un ensemble bien équilibré et consistant malgré la légèreté.
Un délicieux Stout!
