COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle: Filtered.
Hailing from the tradition of 18th Century IPAs, which relied on generous hopping to protect exports during arduous journeys, this modern incarnation retains the strength, body and strong hop character which is synonymous with this beer’s provenance.

A glorious showcase of the distinct, heavily hopped beers for which Shepherd Neame is famed, India Pale Ale delivers potent bitterness, offset with generous amounts of pale ale malt to deliver a balanced, yet uncompromising brew.

50cl bottle from Morrisons. Golden amber with a thin ring of white head; malty aroma with a hint of spice; full and fruity in the mouth with some caramel malt sweetness; and a dry, prickly finish leaving some toffee and mango, and a pleasant warming sensation. The best Shep beer I’ve had in a long while.

500ml bottle. Pours copper amber with an off white head. Nose is biscuit malt, caramel and citrus peel. Taste is similar with a fairly bitter, resinous finish. Some floral tinge to it too. Pretty decent brew.

Fairly low in bitterness and was expecting a bit more hoppiness. But fairly easy drinking IPA nonetheless.

Lovely golden caramel colour with firm head. Smells very malty with a subtle floral hint. Taste is honey, yet more malty than hoppy, with a deep flavour although watery texture and low carbonation. OK.

Pint bottle from Dan Murphys - BB obscured... Pours a lovely clear honey amber body with off-white foam. Malt drives the aroma - honey, toast, nuts, toffee with hints of marmalade. Full body, chewy, substantial, slightly sticky with lowish carbonation. More of lovely sweet malts on the palate - almost golden syrup like, hops provide an earthy, dried spicy, glace citrus note and good firm lingering bitterness. Probably touch old judging the character, but an enjoyable pint.

Bottle - Pours a clear copper with decent, creamy head. Sweet caramel malt aroma. Good mouthfeel with sweet malts. NIce, but too sweet for me.
