Cask at The Cask & Glass London SW1 5 Feb 08. Dark brown colored. A small lasting off-white head. Modest malty aroma. Dry and hoppy impression.

Pretty good ale this one, but not Shep’s best (with a small "b"). They only seem to serve this up there in East Kent; I can never get this on tap in Medway only in Faversham and Canters. Anyway, it is a distinctively Neame brew with that hoppy aftertaste. A bit more malty and sweet than a Spit or Late Red, more like a weaker/poor man’s Bish Finger.

Light golden colour, hoppy but lacking in flavour.Quite a watery pint, not one I would go back to.

Cask, at Mabels Tavern, St Pancras, March 2006. Amber, thin but lasting white head and low fine condition. Low fruitiness in the nose, gentle melon fruitiness and citrus hops in the mouth and a lingering flowery hoppiness in the finish.

larsga (7567) - Oslo, NORWAY - DEC 15, 2007
Coarse white head. Deep chestnut brown body. Dry spicy tea and fruit aroma with malty notes. Sweetish mild malty fruity tea taste. Excellent harmony and balance. Dryish background. Dry wooden caramel aftertaste with tea notes. Excellent! A great beer. (0.5pt cask at the Ashburnham Arms, Greenwich.)

[641-20070919] Cask @ The Harrow (Hastings, ES). Yeasty dough aroma. Clear, amber red body with a long-lasting creamy off-white head. Light grassy hops flavour with a very light hint of fish. Medium body. Good to try but not much different than it’s brothers...
