Chestnut brown colour with a nice white head, floral scent with a slight hint of caramel, nice bitter sweet taste with a lovely roasted malt hint Ingevara (910) - SWEDEN - APR 20, 2007
Brown with a tint of red. Average head. Hoppy and dry. Woody undertones, nice rich aroma. A good ale but not spectacular. AndrewC (376) - Canterbury, Kent, ENGLAND - MAY 6, 2011
I was expecting to hate this having had it on cask a few times and always found it to be anything but Kent’s best. ...but it’s actually not that bad. It spells of hops; green hops; good hops. It tastes of bitter biscuits. It’s astringent. It’s just like the kind of beers I drank in Wye in the late 80’s. A no frills bitter in the old-skool style. 1/2 pint at the Bishops’ Arms, Malmo
A clean amber pint with a small head and good lacing as you drain your glass. This is a beer for those with a sweet tooth. The sweet caramel aroma sets the scene and the taste is sweet malt flavour with a hint of fruit and a medicinal tang. It has a nice long, satisfying aftertaste too. A very drinkable house ale but nothing more. jackafholmes (1017) - - APR 11, 2014
Variety pack from macro. This rating is influenced by a hard day at work on a hot Friday. Nice smoky bitter flavour. Amber in colour. Hit the spot.

Pretty good ale this one, but not Shep’s best (with a small "b"). They only seem to serve this up there in East Kent; I can never get this on tap in Medway only in Faversham and Canters. Anyway, it is a distinctively Neame brew with that hoppy aftertaste. A bit more malty and sweet than a Spit or Late Red, more like a weaker/poor man’s Bish Finger. (Draught at Bishop’s Arms, Vasagatan, Stockholm, 6 Feb 2008. Labeled as Bishop’s Arms House Ale) Amber colour with frothy off-white head. Fruity, malty nose with nuts and dark fruit. Malty taste with dark fruit and decent amounts of earthy hops in the finish. Light body, mainly dry. Nothing exceptional, but a decent, easy drinking bitter with a balanced hop character. A dark clear amber colour with a small white head. Aroma of malt and a hint of fruits. Flavour of malt and a bitter finish.

Bottle. Vibrant amber looking beer with a strongish white head. The aroma is lightly toffee and hopped, and the flavour is very strongly bitter, roasted and toffee. Overall a strongly flavoured beer, maybe too toffee and bitter after a while of drinking.

Creamy copper and completely average. Smells good, tastes nice and gives some hop satisfaction.
But immediately forgotten when the next ale was sampled.
