maeib (8749) - Wootton, Northampton, Northamptonshire, ENGLAND - DEC 10, 2004
Cask conditioned - handpump - Mabels Tavern Mabeldon Place nr Kings Cross (RB London Xmas Crawl 2004). A very dark almost black beer with a hint of ruby. The aroma has some caramel and some fudge and the same has port and licquorice notes. There is also a tiny bit of coffee. Tasty, but I’ve had it better.

Cask conditioned at Mabel’s Tavern, Near Kings Cross, London
I have to say that I’m not usually a huge fan of stouts/porters (with certain exceptions), so I found it hard to get quite as exicted about this as Silktork did. However, this was nice. Dark brown, fluffy off white head. Mild flavoured & slightly sweet, coffee. Good stuff from Sheps.
Sampled on the Ratebeer London Meetup & Pub Crawl, December 2004. With Silktork, Chris_o & Maeib

Cask, Battersea Beer Fest: Neutral aroma, dark brown color, tan head. Warm nutty flavor. Fairly thin but OK.

imdownthepub (14547) - Banbury, Oxfordshire, ENGLAND - FEB 8, 2004
Cask Conditioned at The Dun Cow, Hornton, Oxon. Dark Chocolate colour with big tan head. In a straw poll of the bar full of people at the Dun Cow Winter Beer Festival, this was the best beer. Rich dark chocolate flavours with a sweetish orangey background, there is licorice and chicory throughout, silky and full.

Cask Conditioned, at the Bishops Finger, Smith Fields, London .
Dark brown with a large fluffy brown head. Mature malt flavours, set against bitter and sour notes. Easily drunk but not memorable.

Hildigöltur (5104) - København, DENMARK - OCT 31, 2003
[Cask conditioned] Good coffee and dark chocolate flavours. Quite flat. Short-lasting aftertaste.

UPDATED: DEC 19, 2005 [Cask at the Danish beer festival] A black beer with a light brown head. The aroma is slightly smoked, slightly metalic and a little flat. The flavor is very soft, somewhat smoked with notes of licorice and somewhat flat. The sweetness lingers on your lips. On my tastebuds this one doesn’t have enough power for a porter.

fiulijn (20491) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - MAY 16, 2003
Cask Conditioned
Dark brown. Too poor aroma and taste with some caramel and absolutely not interesting.

omhper (25096) - Tyresö, SWEDEN - MAY 12, 2003
Sampled cask conditioned at the Danish Beer Festival.
Dark brown. Perfumy and roasty. Light bodied, soapy and mild with medium bodied. And I used to like this porter so much some years ago...
