Hand pulled cask at the Running Horse, Leatherhed. The sticker on the pump clip titled this beer ’Whitstable Bay Oyster Stout’. Almost black with a creamy tan head. Roasty with a harsh edge and slight saltiness. Rather stale but not quite off. I would like to try this in fresher nick. anders37 (27577) - Malmö, SWEDEN - DEC 14, 2009
Cask @ Wenlock Arms, Hoxton, London N1. Pours a dark brown almost black color with a small off-white head. Has a roasted malty chocolate aroma. Roasted malty chocolate flavor with some salty hints. Has a fruity malty chocoalte and caramel finish. SilkTork (5920) - Southampton, United Kingdom, Hampshire, ENGLAND - JUL 29, 2008
Kent Beer Fest, The Cow Shed, Canterbury. coffee flavoured light and refreshing dark ale. Low hops and strength would suggest a Mild, but it’s a mute point. Delicious. harrisoni (19534) - Ashford, Kent, ENGLAND - JUL 26, 2008
Cask gravity at Kent BF 2008. Black, dark brown edges. Nice coffee-ish stout, roasty, really quite good for a Shep’s beer, no real Shep’s yeast. Not a lot of oyster, bit of fullness and richness on end maybe. It’s reasonably light in the body. Tasty though.
