Bottle, 500 ml from Lidl Zagreb. Pours orange with white head. Malty, some caramel, vague fruit, watery, some bitterness in finish. Light to medium bodied. What is it with this bottled supermarket bitters?

Flaske. Klar glasflaske. Ravfarvet lus klar med er lille skumhoved. Duften er stale humle svagt og malt. Smagen er dødsyg ligesom de værste engelske bitters. Deikbar men kun lige.

This is an easy drinking copper/auburn, widely available beer. It has a cream coloured head that persists quite well. It has a lively taste giving way to a pleasantly bitter and fresh finish. It lacks character, but works very well as a refreshing, if unmemorable brew... Aroma: lightly hoppy and floral; appearance: amber/copper, mildly frothy; taste: light sweetness, medium bitterness, slightly salty; palate: light body and quite fizzy/lively.

My first bitter. Clear amber with little white head. Aroma is herbs grass slight lightstruck metallic malt canned peach. Taste is bitter grass with some malty grassy ale stuff. Sharp while swallowing. Bitter malty flat finish.

Bottle, 0.5l. Dark copper pour with one finger soapy white head. Long lasting, leaving some good lacing. Nose pretty much typical for the style except this one has more pronounced herbal character. Some good woody notes in there too. Thin to medium body with slightly above average carbonation. Regular texture. Taste is bitter, a bit harsh, slightly charred. Aroma is heavily malty, lots of caramel notes. A bit charred, roasty. Herbal. Woody, grainy. Some subtle peppery notes. A bit of honey in the aftertaste. Finishes bitter and dry with a bit of unpleasant metallic acidity. Overall, good for the style but not something I’d pick up regularly. Decent if you like the style.
