Bottle, 0.5l. Dark copper pour with one finger soapy white head. Long lasting, leaving some good lacing. Nose pretty much typical for the style except this one has more pronounced herbal character. Some good woody notes in there too. Thin to medium body with slightly above average carbonation. Regular texture. Taste is bitter, a bit harsh, slightly charred. Aroma is heavily malty, lots of caramel notes. A bit charred, roasty. Herbal. Woody, grainy. Some subtle peppery notes. A bit of honey in the aftertaste. Finishes bitter and dry with a bit of unpleasant metallic acidity. Overall, good for the style but not something I’d pick up regularly. Decent if you like the style.

Poured a fairly thick off white creamy looking head and has a clear dark amber appearance, sort of a rusty look. Aromas of strong spices, hints of cinnamon, toffee and dark fruits (plums, raisins). Flavours of earthy and resin hops, strong spices again but quite bitter and refreshing. Barley is also evident as well as dark roasted malts and toffee. Hints of cinnamon comes around in the finish with a dash of caramel. Creamy mouthfeel, little bit chalky, warming sensation. Medium bodied. Lively carbonation. Pretty good stuff.
