A classic beer of true quality, Spooks Ale is characterised by its huge biscuity malt palate, derived from three traditional roasted barley malts used in this brew, giving a glorious deep red hue. The excitingly complex malty flavours are wonderfully balanced by a huge citrusy, hoppy bitterness and aroma from a particularly fruity hop added at four stages in the brewing process.

Dark amber with a nice white head. Aroma is chocolate and roasted malt. Flavor is pretty much the same as aroma. Finish has a light bitterness.

I like this. Slightly unusual combination of fruitiness and roast malt flavours - in the autumnal spirit of Hobgoblin, but drier and with less of a kick. Pleasant enough to drink in bulk.

God langt sittende smak, noe søtlig men godt.

Malty and slightly yeasty aroma. Hints of apple shortbread and caramel. Ok but not great. Only cost £1 for a 500ml bottle so no complaints.

Aroma is quite toasty and nutty. Flavour has roasted malts and has a certain creamy, nutty sweetness. Carbonation is a bit high and there’s a bit of a metallic aftertaste otherwise a decent brew.
