COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle: Filtered.
A classic beer of true quality, Spooks Ale is characterised by its huge biscuity malt palate, derived from three traditional roasted barley malts used in this brew, giving a glorious deep red hue. The excitingly complex malty flavours are wonderfully balanced by a huge citrusy, hoppy bitterness and aroma from a particularly fruity hop added at four stages in the brewing process.

500ml bottle from Morrisons supermarket (£1): Terrible, that’s about all I can say to sum up the taste of this beer really. It started okay when I first poured it, sitting well in the glass but instantly things deteriorated when I smelt and tried the beer with little more than some caramel malts and too much bitterness coming through. The beer was a real struggle to finish and I ended up giving up close to the end, it was that bad.

Clear ruby color with small caramel foam. Aromas of coffee, roasted malt. Palete light, medium body but bitter aftertaste/finish. Taste, Roasted malt, nutty. Overall bitter, malty, smoked okayish, not my stile beer but definatly has stronger and lasting taste which is good.

Bottle, 10C. Copper with a bit of a pink tinge, light beige head. Aroma of redcurrants, plums, biscuity malt. Fair bit of body, lowish carbonation. An intriguing array of fruit and biscuity flavours - redcurrants, cranberries, plums, blood oranges. Moderately bitter and somewhat astringent finish. Pretty engaging drop.
