Clear 500ml bottle, best before Sept 2009, drank on a very cold evening in Dec 2008. Poured into a Palm Tulip glass twice.
Terracotta red in colour, with an off-white foaming head that didn’t stay the distance on either pour.
Hops came through in the sniffing stakes, along with berries and nuts.
Fairly fizzy and sweet, not as hoppy as its name suggests. It spiced like a lot of winter Ales, well I could detect some cinnamon maybe but nothing else.
The 7.0% is well hidden, but the beer lacks body and depth for such a strenght.
Pleasant enough, but not a winter warmer I would rush out and buy for my friends.

Bottled, pasteurised, 500ml from Beers of Europe, Norfolk. Copper with white head. There is a light spiciness in the aroma which leads to a slightly caramalised flavour with a general fruitiness and sweetness. The flavour is mouth filling and lingering. An interesting beer. johndoughty (5543) - cheslyn hay, West Midlands, ENGLAND - MAY 31, 2009
Bottle. Typical SH signature flavour that all their beers seem to have.Brown with some sweetness. Slight hoppiness with a gentle body considering its strength.
A so so strong ale. downender (8882) - Bristol, Gloucestershire, ENGLAND - APR 4, 2009
Bottle from Morrisons. Deep amber in colour with a tight, off-white head. Aroma of barley sugar, red fruit and earthy hops. Flavour was very sweet, with more fruit, some spice and a decent bitter finish. Flavour was marred by over prominent boiled sweets effect of pasteurisation. Ok. joe19612 (3074) - camberley, Surrey, ENGLAND - APR 3, 2009
Bottle. A good orangey red colour with a thin white head. A good strong alcohol aroma. The taste is smooth with hints of spice, with a long dry finish.

UPDATED: JUN 21, 2009 Sweet caramel (little smoked) malt with light fruity and wooden (mahogany) notes. Taste of chai and wood. Bittery. Quite strong burbon alcohol flavor. Medium carbonisation. Appealing whiskey-like red color. Smell is mixture of burbon, wood and strawberry. Smooth aftertaste. Gethinbeer (2452) - Nova Scotia, CANADA - FEB 25, 2009
From bottle. Sweet aroma, fruity with a hint of spice. Copper in colour with a good white head. Flavour is sweet, smooth texture with hints of fruit. I wish there was more to this beer, just lacks something. Its has sweet berries, good hop bitterness and is easy to drink with subtle spice breaking though. Caramel malt finish. leaparsons (10765) - Wigston, Leicestershire, ENGLAND - FEB 23, 2009
Bottle. Amber gold with a small head. Aromas are fruity berries with earthy hops. Flavours are berries and citrus with tea and sweet grain. Woody and earthy on the finish. OK. Ethereal (2471) - Los Angeles, California, USA - FEB 5, 2009
500ml bottle from Morrison’s. Clear copper with some carbonation. Quite alcoholic nose. Sharp, but also tastes a bit artificially sweet. Palate and finish ok. marctacoma (35) - Fircrest, Washington, USA - JAN 24, 2009
Bottle, from Sarah/Steve-
Nice color; not much aroma, but some malt is noticeable.
Decent mouthfeel, hop bitterness without citrusy/piny bite, malt flavors emerge from the hops, then a disappointing alcohol aftertaste.
Overall, it’s a decent if not-terribly-noteworthy ale. Smooth, but simply not distinctive.
