Bottle in LA. Imported. Aroma has some mild fruitiness and hot alcohol. Clear and near colourless. Somewhat syrupy viscosity, hint of sweetness, some subtle fruitiness, rice alcohol character, hint of acidity, dry finish with warming, slightly hot alcohol. UPDATED: DEC 20, 2013 Clear faint bronze color. Overripe pear skin, toasted nuts / nut oils / hazelnut and vanilla aroma and flavor. Savory umami with lip-smacking acidity well-matched for the medium-full body and semi-sweet sugar level. Best sake I’ve had in years. I’m no longer a fan of sake so to get a mid 3 from me is like a 4+ from someone else. Bottle. Pours with good clarity, water like paleness and strong legs. Aromas are strongly fragrant and fruity with some koji. Strong, fresh watermelon, cantaloupe, banana, kiwi, lychee, bright fruit blossoms, asian plum. Alcohol is quite strong as well which detracts. Flavors are fruity with very light koji and umami touches. Still quite fruit forward with medium perceived sweetness (alcohol might enhance this character). Floral and juicy stone fruit. Clean, light minerality and a very good balance despite the alcohol. Still bodied, good viscosity and warming but contained considering the massive ABV. Overall: elegant jet fuel!
