3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
This would make a good season ale, and I’d like to try it on cask, but nothing to get really excited about here, basically a clean 4.5% amber, with slightly more hop profile than you might expect.
On tap at Craft Heads in Shibuya (Tokyo), Japan. Deep amber color with a big off-white head. Huge amount of lacing on the glass. Aroma of caramel and some plums or apricots. Taste is the same, perfectly in balance, neither sweet nor bitter. A good session beer, this is very easy to drink. Wombata (627) - Kobe, JAPAN - NOV 18, 2013
From bottle bought at CBB.
Aroma: initially, floral hop, apricot, like grass, white grapefruit, light cedar. Later the floral note was followed by moderate smoky character and pineapple and grapefruit.
Palate: dry, very smooth with a light-medium body, sessionable.
Flavor: light roasted wheat like mugi cha, blend of dried apricot and apple, subtle grain, with a light roasted finish.
Comment: sessionable yet subtle and complex and refreshing. Brilliant. Judging from the other comments, bottle is better than the tap, which wouldn’t be the first time for a Shiga Kogen ale.

4.5% 450 yen at Asahiya. A nice amber pour with a slight beige head. Mild nutty malty nose, a bit hoppy & malty but I am getting a kind of cardboard taste from it. Not bad. That cardboard feeling faded as I drank it but maybe I just got used to it. shoulderbroken (4256) - Tokyo, JAPAN - NOV 13, 2013
Tap at Gar Eden. Red brown colour, creamy off-white head. Aroma is little bit sweet and little bit spicy. Taste is grainy, little bit of malt sweetness, but pretty thin. No oomph. Bit fruity, plums maybe. Bit of a disappointment as I was hoping for a lot. Will have to try it again some time.

Tap at Tadg’s. Medium amber color. Grassy nose, earthy amber malts. Clean, earthy flavor, dry, nice hop bitterness. Very drinkable and nice, though doesn’t surprise. maekchu (4054) - Hirakata, JAPAN - OCT 19, 2013
Draught at Tadg’s. Yeasty nose with some sharp hops. Hazy brown color. Mild peaches, some spice, light bittering, and a tiny metallic note. Medium body. Tasty, and fairly mild. Not bad.
