Tap at Takumi, Kuala Lumpur. Poured a clear dark brown with a frothy light tan head. The aroma is roasty caramel malt, toffee fudge. The flavour is moderate sweet with a silky smooth, roasty smoke, hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

Draft pulled into a tulip glass. Appearance is standard for a porter or stout - jet black with a thin layer of tan froth - it didnt look too promising in terms of carbonation, but it is there, somehow!. Aromas are quite subtle, roasted malts and coffee mainly, but barely there. Taste is more prominently coffee, chocolates and roasted malts - coffee dominant, but there is a nice balance amongst the three at the end of the day. Carbonation is average, it doesnt show up much in the froth, but it does make a brew feel much creamier and medium bodied in the mouth. Finish is dry, like an Irish stout. Seems to be a decent effort at a well balanced porter, not overly complex, but enough layers to make it an interesting drink.

Med brown, toasty nose, earthy on the palate, toasty but just a touch of underlying malt sweetness. Good porter. Bit yeasty, if theres a big issue.

33cl bottle from Midori, Nagano. Pours close to black with a modest pale beige head. Mild, but pleasant aroma of roasted malt with some fruity notes, chocolate and hints of wood. Moderate to medium sweet with a balanced bitterness. Medium body with a fairly average carbonation. Decent, easy-to-drink porter.
