Tap at Bungalow. Pale golden, shiny, cloudy, with a fine head. Clean miscuity malt nose, grass and hay, a touch of lemon, saltine crackers. Full but crisp flavor, great crackery malts and great hops. Nicely bitter and crisp finish. Excellent. The sake rice seems to work well here, not much flavor but lightening the body. Wombata (625) - Kobe, JAPAN - FEB 16, 2014
Aroma: Floral, citrus, orange/mikan, light pine note
Palate: Lively carbonation emphasizes the hop bitterness.
Flavor: Floral, orange, light pine, bitter orange pith and mikan peel and finishes dry and clean.
Comment: Firm bittering but not over the top as the name might suggest. High carbonation does downplay the fruit and bring out the bitterness. Made with Yamanishiki rice. Interestingly, the barman had me try this in a snifter/wine glass versus the regular glass (straight sides; slightly wider at the top than at the bottom) and it took away the carbonation reduced the hop aroma and emphasized the rice character. Amazing how much better the regular shaped glass was for bringing forth the flavor, aroma and carbonation. A well-made brew.
