Tap at Bungalow. Pale golden, shiny, cloudy, with a fine head. Clean miscuity malt nose, grass and hay, a touch of lemon, saltine crackers. Full but crisp flavor, great crackery malts and great hops. Nicely bitter and crisp finish. Excellent. The sake rice seems to work well here, not much flavor but lightening the body. GenkiGonzo (1092) - Kyoto, JAPAN - FEB 22, 2014
Draught at Tadg. Slightly cloudy pale gold with small white head. Aroma has bitter hops with some dry crackers. Flavour is a fantastic mix of bitter hops, crackers, some hints of fruits. Very light body for 6% Westkyoto77 (635) - Kyoto, JAPAN - APR 25, 2014
Draught at Bungalow. Not nearly as bitter as the name would have you think. Golden blonde, rich fluffy head. Spicy citrus and pine. Soft palate, guzzled like a lager. Fruity and zesty and nice. A winner on a warm afternoon on way home from work. shoulderbroken (4255) - Tokyo, JAPAN - FEB 23, 2014
Tap at Gar Eden. Clear blond, white head. Less bitter than might expect but decent lemon hoppiness, and grassy bitter finish. Lots of grain in the taste. Would be great in summer. Grassy aroma.

Aroma: Floral, citrus, orange/mikan, light pine note
Palate: Lively carbonation emphasizes the hop bitterness.
Flavor: Floral, orange, light pine, bitter orange pith and mikan peel and finishes dry and clean.
Comment: Firm bittering but not over the top as the name might suggest. High carbonation does downplay the fruit and bring out the bitterness. Made with Yamanishiki rice. Interestingly, the barman had me try this in a snifter/wine glass versus the regular glass (straight sides; slightly wider at the top than at the bottom) and it took away the carbonation reduced the hop aroma and emphasized the rice character. Amazing how much better the regular shaped glass was for bringing forth the flavor, aroma and carbonation. A well-made brew.

On tap at Tadg’s, half-pint 235ml for 700 yen. Cloudy gold with a thin foamy head. Big aroma, pine needles, grapefruit & bitterness. A very smooth full bodied beer. The taste is bitter, earthy reminiscent of a Budvar then followed by fruity hop notes with a definite citrus bent.

Smooth body, grassy hops. Unique without really standing out this is a very oxymoronic beer. Changes shape a few times as it warms going from a grassy hop heavy ale to a clean saisonesque style beer with a pronounced hop bite. TimE (5956) - Tokyo, JAPAN - APR 24, 2014
Medium golden color. Frothy white, very clean hoppy nose. Moderately bitter light medium body, very clean and very quaffable. Very light for 6.0%. Enjoyable beer, but the name is a misnomer as it isn’t super bitter. biirusaikou (2705) - - JUN 13, 2014
Decent lager with a solid floral hop character and dry finish. A tad disappointing though considering the promising title and highly skilled brewers collaboration. maekchu (3953) - Hirakata, JAPAN - APR 11, 2014
Bottle from Asahiya. Big grassy nose, slightly stinky hopping. Light straw color. Rounded fruity initial with bitter peachy notes / moderate and undefined hops / the dark, earthy hops really come out in the finish. Medium body. Pleasant, grassy, and very full (for a lager). Doesn’t really seem like an imperial, though. Not quite as "super niga-i" as advertised.
