Aroma is coffee, dark malts and a hint of spices. The flavor is dark malts, coffee, a mild hint of spices and a mix of fruit and acidity in the finish.

1st test: Poured from a cooled 12 ounce bottle into a 11 ounce mug. OK. Nice. 2nd: Poured from 2 VERY cold 12 oz. bottles into a pint glass. MUCH better. MUCH. Drink COLD and enjoy this easy, slightly sweet one, while its available, then.

Bottle from my wife. Clear medium brown appearance. Off-white head of small tight bubbles. Coffee on the nose with notes of chocolate and dark roasted malt. Flavor is light coffee, more roast, grain, bitter chocolate with an easy finish. Light sweetness. Could use more of a coffee kick.

Dark brown with an off-white head. Coffee aroma. Flavors on the palate mostly follow the coffee theme, maybe a bit of other roasted malt flavors in the background. Despite the roasted flavor profile, the body is medium at best. Flavors integrate just a little bit suboptimally on the palate. Overall pretty good though, one of my favorites Ive had from Shiner.

Sampled on draft at Hou Thou this beer poured a dark brown color with an orange hue and a large foamy beige head that left good lacing. The aroma was brewed coffee, a bit burnt and woody. The flavor was slightly burnt brewed coffee and wood. Medium length finish. Medium body. Meh.

Bottle. Dark brown, clear, with a small, short-lived cream colored head. Aroma of coffee and roasted malt. Tastes just barely bitter, but with a nice coffee flavor. Fairly light bodied. The flavor/aroma are good, just a bit thin.

gephross100 (666) - Bellaire, Texas, USA - FEB 4, 2017
UPDATED: FEB 4, 2017 12 oz bottle from HEB pours dark brown with a small white head that quickly dissipates to nothing. Nose is tree bark, apples, chocolate, folders coffee. Medium mouthfeel with strong carbonation. Real ale did it better.
