A Bohemian Black Lager is a rare and delicious style of beer, referred to in Germany as "Schwarzbier". Shiner Bohemian Black Lager remains true to this old-world style by using imported Czech Saaz and Styrains Hops and select roasted malts to make it our darkest beer. First brewed to commemorate our 97th anniversary, this Bohemian Black Lager remains true to the old-world heritage of the German and Czech immigrants that settled Shiner. Prosit!

A dark brown beer with a red shine under a thin beige head. The aroma is sweet with notes of malt and caramel, as well as light notes of butter. The flavor is sweet with primary notes of malt, but also lighter notes of roasted malt and bread, leading to a dry, bitter, and lightly roasted finish. The body is thin.

Bottle 35,5 cl. Pours a clear reddish brown with a small, creamy beige head. A dry vanillaish roast aroma - quite clean and pleasant. Medium body, sweet subtle roast, a little licorice. Dry finish. Very clean and well made. 301112

Bottle - Grains and toasted malts with a sweet pale finish. Jet black with a thin beige head. Molasses and dark sweet malts. Date and prune. Odd discrepancy between nose and taste. Nose too sweet and taste if burnt molasses.

Botte, 12oz. It’s a dark brown beer, clear it seems, with a minimal sized light beige head. Coffee and roasted malts in the aroma, some dried fruits, and a touch of dark chocolate. A bit too carbonated I think, medium bodied and soft on the palate, quite dry as well, but with some sweetness. Not very bitter, some roasted malts kind of bitterness though. The flavor has roasted malts, dark chocolate, some dried fruits and coffee, both initially and in the end. A quite pleasant one, far from super exiting, but drinkable and quite tasteful. 130829
