Thin, light caramel malts and some earhy tones. Nothing spectacular. Not bad compared to macros.

Good red amber color with a thin head on it. The aroma is a caramel malt smell with something earthy in there as well. The flavor is rather smooth and creamy, not overly sweet, but there is a good caramel taste. The palate is mostly smooth until the ending bite, which isn’t that substantial. Not the best beer, but a well balanced bock.

Bottle. Pours dark amber, slightly cloudy with a thin tan head that laces well. Wheat and mild yeastiness predominates in the nose. Mild hops character. Taste is very clean with some flavorful hops at the end, along with a caramel flavor, but overall a little thin. Sweet finish and pleasant, slightly oily mouthfeel. One of my favorite inexpensive beers.

IslandHaole (1286) - Misawa, JAPAN - JUL 9, 2004
A clear deep Amber with a foamy, off-white head. Very mild sweet scent. Feels like a macro lager & tastes slightly better than one. Not what I had hopes for.

Ended an evening in Arlington with two of these last week. A distinct taste, will buy again in Texas, doubt that I would purchase if available at home.

Nothing spectacular. This bock is nothing compared the the German BIGbrothers. Not very fulbodied.

From Keg. Dark brown, see through, with rapidly dispersing white head. Has an aroma of sacharin sweetness and a complete lack of maltiness in the nose. Can’t even smell caramel at all. Taste is similar to budweiser with a flavored darkness that reminds me of kool-aid. Low on alcohol, and flavor is just bad.

DocLock (10836) - Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 16, 2004
Pours dark brown with a big creamy light tan head. Aroma of malt, toffee, and slight cognac. Tastes malty, slightly sour, with a light mouthfeel. Not very complex, and light on the alcohol for a bock.

good exmaple of a bock amber in color. light hop finish with a touch of sulpher wich is correct for the style head is white and medium. taste clean a little thin.

what is wrong with these bars that give you an ice covered glass, i spent the first beer having water drip on me. i want a beer not a glass that will piss on me. but about the beer. nice pour darkish brown with an average head that faded. not an unappealing aroma, but overall bland. hoppy taste that is a little watery, better than the majority of macros. a safe alternative at most texas bars.
