I liked their Honey Wheat better. This is yellow-orange with little scent. Very sweet honey flavors, but no banana-clove worthy of the HefeWeizen name. A sweet cousin. OK. igneous1 (1535) - Davenport, Iowa, USA - FEB 26, 2003
looks pretty nice.....hazy golden with a foamy white head...even leaves behind a little lacing. not much in the aroma and there is a slight banana flavor..other than that, dont expect much out of this one. foduck (330) - Seattle, Washington, USA - FEB 26, 2003
Probably Shiner's best beer. Wheat and citrus, no banana or clove. Appropriately carbonated, easy-drinking, cloudy. Nice label. I was surprised by this, but it comes no where near the finesse of the Bavarians. cb (810) - Roeland Park, Kansas, USA - FEB 24, 2003
Have you ever had a beer that made you wish you'd had 3 or 4 before it to dull your tastebuds? Exactly. They make a point on the bottle of saying that the cloudy nature "is good" and to "pour into a glass." Which is good. I think for some, this might be the first beer that has any texture whatsoever. For me, the best thing was the face. Nuffield (4167) - Roseville, Minnesota, USA - FEB 21, 2003
Not brilliant as as a hefeweizen, but not bad as a beer. Little head, though nice cloudy golden appearance. Early flavors of caramel-covered apples, and later more fruitiness, though some alcohol pops through the flavor later as well.

It has a nice simple American wheat taste that does not contain the "clove" tastes of the true German wheat beers such as Paulaner or Franziskaner. drinkitup (13) - Spring, Texas, USA - JAN 31, 2003

Great local buy. Different from German Wheats but well worth having in the refrigerator. Actually enjoyed it more than Paulaner Hefe. vector (163) - Dallas, Texas, USA - JAN 7, 2003
UPDATED: FEB 17, 2003 Interesting and widely available Hefeweizen where I live. Cloudy orange appearance with very fruity flavor. Tastes a little too sour to me sometimes but overall worth trying. CaptainCougar (7133) - Columbia, Maryland, USA - DEC 28, 2002
Lightly cloudy with a sour yeasty aroma. Medium bodied with a sour bite and a light fizziness. Basically average for its style. Pretty drinkable.
