COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
“Kosmos Spoetzl knew how to brew great beer. Born in Bavaria, Kosmos’ mastery of German brewing carried him as far as Egypt before he found his way to the small Texas town of Shiner. Our proud brewery still carries his name and commitment to excellence in brewing. This full-flavored, hop-jacked lager is every bit as unique as the man himself and our way of saluting the brewmaster who started it all.”

Bottle: Pale copper color with a small white head. A little floral and a little grass, but rather clean and refreshing. Nothing crazy here.

12 ounce bottle. Dark golden color topped by a small white head. Mildly nutty malt nose. Light bodied sweet caramel malt flavor. Metallic grainy midtaste. Some hops in finish. Average at best.

Pours gold with a moderate white head and sparkling body. Some bread in the aroma. Tastes like a higher bodied pilsner style beer with very mild hop bitterness and almost no hop aroma or flavor with a slight acidic finish. An enjoyable medium bodied lighter beer. Aroma: bread Appearance: golden, clear, sparkling, mild white foam Taste: lightly bitter, lightly sour Palate: medium body, soft carbonation, acidic finish

Pours caramelly orange with a fast fading white head. Aroma is faint but there’s caramel, grass, hay, corn, and yams. Flavor is similarly sweet with more yam, corn, and caramel and only the most subtle of grassy hop qualities. Finishes a little sticky with a bit more grass and breadcrust, but no bitternes. Light, easy to drink. Unremarkable beer that does not live up to the promise of "dry hopping" in the least. So weak, but Shiner is more for outdoor family parties than contemplative drinking at home.

Not really sure what to think of this beer. Hoppy but not an ipa. Good but not my favorite of the shiner collection.

Golden. Grainy, some grass. You do get some hops in the nose and taste. Very thin.

Lager eh? This comes across like a very light pale ale, I’m guessing the idea is that it is strongly hopped, can’t say for sure what the hops are but there are hints of grapefruit rind and bitter herb, it feels Cascadey. I had a SNPA and Anchor Liberty earlier tonight and this is right in that same ballpark except for a slight floral element to the hops. All finishing hops come through more in the flavor than nose, which is restrained. Light, somewhat bready malts are barely worth noting. Hops are light bitter and a touch spicy at the finish. Slick mouthfeel. Its alright, not great, but I’d pick it over 99% of the beers classed as "premium lagers".

Light and clear brown. Thin white head. Very sweet and smooth. I would like this if it was fermented longer.

Not a bad lager at all. I don’t like that you could only get it in the reunion pack but I though it was a nice change to their staple beers...
