Pours amber with a fast receding head like a cowardly mutt in my neighbors back yard that barks until you approach it and it runs off. Not much of an aroma just some malt action. Medium nectar with superb carbonation. Big malty flavors protrude like the bulging bottom of a defected Wexford can. Sweet malty essence with mild bittering. A very flavorful lager reminds me of a light marzen. Not a bad beer at all. bluejacket74 (1991) - Reynoldsburg, Ohio, USA - DEC 28, 2010
12 ounce bottle, one of the 6 beers included in Shiner’s Family Reunion 6-pack. Served in a pilsner glass, the beer pours a clear dark gold color with a half inch white head. Head retention and lacing are both OK. Aroma is toasted and bready malt, along with some grassy hops. Taste is similar to the aroma, but there’s a nice herbal/spicy taste noticable too. Mouthfeel/body is light/medium with moderate carbonation. Drinkability is good, it’s smooth and easy to drink. Overall I think it’s a pretty decent brew, I enjoyed it. zestytaco (34) - Niceville, Florida, USA - DEC 16, 2011
Pours a pale yellow color with a white head that fades quickly. Has the strong aroma of cooked corn with a grassy undertone. Clean light malt flavor with a hint of sweetness. Honestly this isn’t a bad beer. This style gets such a bad rap from the macros that decent lagers like this one get lost in the shuffle.

12 oz bottle from the six type summer sampler case. Plenty of hops with a medium body. Surprised this wasn’t so bad. Good antidote for the summer heat. rjplumer (1075) - Foxboro, Massachusetts, USA - JUL 30, 2015
Light smooth grain aroma. Solid white finger thick head that lingers for quite awhile. Light grain and malt taste with just a touch of bitterness. Light body and refreshing.

Clear orange, nice rocky white head. Malty aroma, with a bit of a vegetal note. Nicely crisp. Mildly hoppy at first, then a touch of bready malt. Decent and quaffable. Cletus (6355) - Connecticut, USA - JUN 18, 2009
Pours copper/gold with a thin white head. Smells of corn, some spice, stale hops, earthy. Tastes of caramel, spice, some sweet citrussy splashes on the finish. Very drinkable. badlizard (5533) - Berkeley, California, USA - JUL 19, 2010
Clear golden with a fluffy white head. Cereal grain aroma and a bland malty taste with a sharp yet oddly flat finish. Points for the paradox? beaz1591 (238) - Omaha, Nebraska, USA - OCT 4, 2011
Pours and orange/amber color with bubbly head. A full flavored beer that leaves a filmy aftertaste. eRock_2013 (461) - South Carolina, USA - DEC 26, 2013
Basically a Shiner Bock with more bitterness, but one can discern a variety of subtle hop flavors as well. Pleasant smell with some sweet hoppiness, copper color with great lacing. Mild, balanced, and drinkable taste. Maybe just a bit thin on the palate, but a good balanced flavor. It would be nice if they sold this in six packs, but I've only found it in the shiner "family reunion" mixed packs. Recommended.
