Bottle from Total Wine in Roseville, CA. Pours light amber with a foamy off-white head. Sort of a burnt caramel aroma. Medium body with frothy carbonation. Flavor is pretty much scorched caramel with a little grassy hop. It’s drinkable, but it’s not to die for.

Bottle. Pours a clear copper orange with a large frothy off white head that lasts awhile leaving sticky lacing. The aroma is a sweet fruit malt with grain and wheat. Thin mouthfeel with a bready malt and metallic finish. Not much going on with this marzen from Shiner.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Dancing Camel. Thanks Yoav. Clear amber. Aroma of malt, caramel, sugary notes and light fruitiness. Sweetish flavor, caramelly, with some fruitiness, slightly candy-ish, and mild bitterness in the finish. Medium-bodied.

Bottle. Pours a clear dark amber with a large frothy white head that is lasting. Average wheat malt aroma. Medium body. Moderate bitter light sweet flavor with a small bitter finish of average duration. Below average but interseting brew.

(12oz bottle) Medium off-white head atop a clear amber body. Aroma is medium sweet, caramel, cookie. Taste is medium sweet, caramel, some cookie, light metallic. Light-medium body, light acidity. Not bad, but lacks the characteristics of what I think of as a marzen.

Drake (14078) - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA - OCT 26, 2010
12 ounce bottle opened 9/16/10. Pours a clear copper color with a medium white head that dissipates fairly quickly. Aroma of toasted malts, faint fruity notes and grassy hops. The taste is toasted malts, caramel, faint berry-like fruits and a nutty, grassy finish. Medium bodied. Decent.

UPDATED: OCT 3, 2016 12 oz brown twist off bottle. It pours an orange/amber with a fizzy white head that quickly dissipates with no lace. A very unworthy appearance for this beer style. The smell is weak, there is some caramel and nuttiness but not much. The flavor is very odd. It is a mix of helles lager and some other flavor. I can’t pinpoint it, almost like raw leaf. The hops in this one are terrible. There is a cutting sweetness that also isn’t appealing. The mouthfeel isn’t that bad, but it isn’t that great, this beer jsut confuses me with its mediocrity. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 09-06-2010 01:25:21 RERATE: 355ml twist off. Lighter amber pour, fluffy whtie head. Aroma has a bit of lemon lime soda, extremely light and vaguely malty. Flavor is pretty inoffensive, light malt, light hops, ntohgin here...

BeerandBlues2 (13823) - Escondido, California, USA - DEC 13, 2005
12-oz. bottle. Pours brass with loads of tiny fast-rising bubbles and a small diminishing off-white head; some falling lined lacing. Light caramel malt (meal, cereal) and cardboard yeast (horse blanket) aroma and faint fruit (apple) hops. Light roasted caramel malt sweet yeast flavor with apple hops and a sour to bitter finish. Light to medium bodied and smooth, very drinkable palate.
