Prickly Pear? Is it a cactus? If so this is no tequila beer!
It is sweet and sour and unique. Aroma is almost sweet. Taste is almost tart. with just a little bit of hops. It tastes good cold or at room temperature. For those that ever tried a lambic and hated it, you might like this taste! It is a three season beer (spring, summer, fall).
Shiner did a nice job on this one! Prosit!

Light amber pour with thin head. Fruity flavor with little aftertaste a good change of pace. audinerd17 (49) - Texas, USA - MAY 17, 2015
This is a strange beer if there ever was one. Shiner Prickly Pear is exactly as it describes. A prickly pear beer. The thing is that it tastes like an Italian soda and doesn't taste of beer at all. It's like an Italian Soda and sparkling cider had an alcoholic prickly pear baby. Is it good? Yea. It's interesting. But it's absolutely summer only and you need to know what you're getting yourself into!

Poured from a 12 OZ bottle into a pint glass. This beer has a very unique fruit flavor that I found very enjoyable. The beer is a clear amber/copper color with a small white head. The beer is medium bodied with moderate carbonation. A unique beer experience that I would recommend for anyone who is into fruit beers. Ratman197 (15204) - Arvada, Colorado, USA - MAY 1, 2015
Bottle poured a clear golden amber with a lasting ivory head. Aromas of bread, prickly pear and light citrus. Palate was light bodied and crisp with a dry finish. Flavors of bread, prickly pear and light citrus with a crisp dry lingering fruity finish.

Nice fruity berry nose with a little tart fruity twang. Smooth and crisp with a pleasant fruity touch, slight berry tartness, crisp blondish finish, nice fruity berry tones throughout without being cloy. Surprisingly good. mmmbeer (1427) - Austin, Texas, USA - AUG 2, 2012
12 oz. bottle served in my Shiner shaker- poured a transparent darkened goldenrod color, 1 finger foamy off white head formed but just didn’t lace. Aroma of pear as soon as the bottletop came off, with some apple, grass, and grain all trying to make themselves known in the background. Hits the mouth with lt. body, malt is obviously going to be weak, perfume like pear in the middle that isn’t over forceful, finish is moderately sweet yet refreshing. Good stuff maynard! Farbe bernstein. Laurel, New Jersey, USA - JUL 27, 2015
Amber bubbly white head; sweet aroma def pear dominates; flava is grainy and malty slightly tart and subtle sweetness like fresh pear ; feels light fizzy; finishes mildly tart and crisply dry
