Light yellow water appearance. No head. Balanced aroma of grain and hops. Flavor is a little fuller than most pale lagers. Sweet palate. Heavier finish for a light beer.
Earlier Rating: 4/30/2008 Total Score: 2.5
Ive never seen anything as pale as peral light until now. Pours watery pale yellow. With a 1 inch head that lasts 45 seconds. Aroma of fine malt. Taste is malty, bready, watery, metallic, and bitter. Finish is strong and bready, and a little metallic. What was the idea with this one?

Pours an average glassy yellow with a nose of sweetened corn and short-bus wheat. Taste is slightly glamorous cornsyrup wheat and Frosted Flakes. Average mouthfeel. Whopptidy fuck. Ive rated all the Shiner beers.

Pours a stupid clear yellow with an aroma of short-bus corn. Flavor is weak copper and mineral water. Watery mouthfeel. This stuff should only be given to people you hate.

Bottle courtesy Fratto, who got it from pikapp327. Its always traced back to pikapp327. Well here we are. When this bottle was brought out of the fridge, the group erupted in groans. Apparently they arent too excited about a pale lager, regardless of who its from. I poured it in my glass and scrambled for my phone to take a picture of the head but by the time I pulled up the camera the head had all but disappeared. Oh well. It HAD a fizzy white head with a very clear straw appearance for the body.

The aroma is not very good. Kinda trashy, old grains, slight souring notes and gym socks. Not fresh gym socks though. The sweaty kind that you forget in your gym bag until you open it up after sitting in the garage for several weeks.

Flavor is tons of corn and rice notes, with watery notes and metallic characteristics. Im sorry, I know I dont often trounce a beer Im reviewing, especially from my home team but....this is crap. Dont bother trying this.

Really didnt taste much different from any other domestic light beers. Bud light under the Shiner label.

(12oz bottle, courtesy of Fratto) Pours a clear pale yellow body with a small white head. Aroma of light cereal and some corn. Flavor is much the same. Watery mouthfeel and finish. My tap water has considerably more complexity. Could use for hydration after a good workout.

Bottle from pikapp327. Very pale and clear pour with a medium white head. Theres decent lacing. Im only mentioning the lacing because theres nothing else thats goof about this beer, and lets face it - I have never had lacing effect my enjoyment of a beer in the slightest bit. The aroma smells old and past its prime. I dont know how this is possible. The beer hasnt even been out a week yet. The taste really isnt that bad. Its just lame and uninviting. Minimal flavor and awkward. I really thought that after Shiner 102 and Old-Time Alt that Shiner might actually be trying again. I was wrong.

Dear Spoetzl Brewery and the town of Shiner,

This beer is a lie.

12 oz bottle. Pours a light straw yellow with fizzy white head. Aroma of grain and corn. Flavor is the same with notes of cardboard. Mouth feel is light, watery and over carbonated...Overall, its just like a Miller, Coors and Bud light.
Earlier Rating: 6/24/2008 Total Score: 2.4
Bottle, Kegs & Barrels in McKinney, TX. Pours a clear light yellow with fizzy white head that dissapeared very quickly. Aroma is actually nice, a light berry smell.....Flavor is not bad, just not much of it.....slight berry and very little malt....Mouthfeel is very watery and high carbonation.....This is a light summer beer to quinch the thirst and not be very heavy, and it taste much better then a miller lite with slight citris notes added....that appears to be what they are going for with this beer, so Im not going to slam it, it was light and refreshing....I would drink this again on a hot day by the pool....and guys, if your woman doesnt like beer, let her try this.....

Poured into a pint glass. 1.5 A: Extremely pale yellow, like diluted piss. No head and no lacing. 1.5 S: Nothing with a hint of grainy pungency. 1.5 T: Water. Not piss water like other macros, just plain water. 1.5 M: Carbonated water. 1.5 D: As drinkable as carbonated water. This beer fucking sucks. The only thing it has going for it is that, unlike a lot of macros, I dont want to throw up while drinking it. But even that isnt good. Sometimes Id rather taste something bad than nothing at all. A: snifter. pours a really light crystal clear yellow color, lighter than most. white head with a decent retention level. low to moderate retention level and really moderate lacing. S: smells like an american maco lager. some corn, but some perfume as well. I am getting worried. T: i am so nervous...I just read the back of the bottle, it says 99 calories. so light in flavor. Tastes like a watered down brew. some sweet malts, but not much. Mostly corn flavors....and water. M: goes down like water. high carbonation. very unappealing mouthfeel to me. D: its drinkable...hell I could drink tons of these. better than a Mich Ultra, but I dont drink that so I wont drink this again.

A bit too sweet and light for a Shiner product, to me. Grassy, fruity. Very small head when poured into a glass. Refreshing.

Pours a very clear, watery looking yellow with a very small white head. Aroma has a sweet grainy, light grassy hops and some mild apple juice notes. Flavor is pretty much a watered down sweet apple juice, light grassy hops and an overall sweet grainy flavor. Very light body, thin texture and low fine carbonation. Overall not great but for a 99 calorie beer it has a little more flavor than the others but still not enough for me to want to actually drink it on a normal schedule.
