12 oz. bottle served in shaker- poured a transparent very thin yellow color, medium carbonation, solid wafer thin white clump for a head. Aroma of an almost cheap sugary cereal, with just enough hops to keep me from bitching. Hits the mouth with a thin body, malt is there no doubt but fades in the middle, finish is very watery. Hmm... at least this damn Yankee is now rated among this breweries top 5 raters, ha!

12 oz. bottle served in shaker- I was thirsty so I decided to give this a whirl. Poured transparent thin golden piss color, a half finger white head formed, then came to a point of self-realization, then quickly went away. Aroma of hard water and perhaps one single hop used in a 25000 gallon mashton. Hits the mouth with a thin watery body, got a little wheat and corn, whole lot of water, finish went away on command. The first time in a long time that I finished a beer in 10 seconds or less- I was thristy and it went down like water. So, where’s the beer?

Clear yellow with a tiny white head that’s totally gone in about 3 seconds. Aroma of Frosted Flakes and bread, and it tastes like a sweetened pale lager. Thin, but not too watery. Nothing special, but it’s much better than most light beers. Not as much adjunct or water character.

This is basically a repackaged Shiner Spezial Leicht. Skunky smell, flavorless, way too fizzy. Not impressed.

Pours light gold, little head, slight malt aroma. A very watery, light beer. Very bland beer, no character at all. Another typical crap lager.

[Tap] Light yellow pour with a soapy white head to it. Light aroma of grains and mild metallic notes. The taste is of light cereal grains and maybe some corn syrup. Thin body and mouthfeel. This pretty much tastes like any other mass produced light lager. Maybe a tad better in body, but not much.

(Bottle) Pours a yellow color with a decent looking white head. Aroma includes quite a bit of grain. Sweet taste is reminiscent of poorly refined corn. Little balance, without any hop notes. High carbonation. I was expecting more.

Bottle. Pours a Pale yellow gold with a small frothy white head that quickly diminishes to nothing. The aroma is a sweet malt and cereal. Thin mouthfeel with a wheat and corn malt flavor and nice crisp finish. Easy to drink, a decent lager from Shiner.

Bottle. Pours a very clear white gold color with a small frothy head that diminshes quickly. The aroma is a bready malt and corn. The taste is a watery salty malt with a bad aftertaste. Not much going on with this one. Avoid this beer.

bottle, clear pale yellow with faintest aroma of cereal and hops, flavor is thin metallic and bitter
Earlier Rating: 5/25/2008 Total Score: 1.8
bottle, lightest yellow, no real flavor to speak of, Shiner can be hit or miss, on the guadalupe this would be acceptable, otherwise not so good

docsteigs (542) - Texas, USA - MAR 14, 2011
Not a bad light lawnmower. Smells like light beer and tastes the same; perhaps a little sweeter with less hop presence than its peers.

kidmartinek (5007) - austin, Texas, USA - MAR 11, 2011
Light yellow water appearance. No head. Balanced aroma of grain and hops. Flavor is a little fuller than most pale lagers. Sweet palate. Heavier finish for a light beer.
Earlier Rating: 4/30/2008 Total Score: 2.5
I’ve never seen anything as pale as peral light until now. Pours watery pale yellow. With a 1 inch head that lasts 45 seconds. Aroma of fine malt. Taste is malty, bready, watery, metallic, and bitter. Finish is strong and bready, and a little metallic. What was the idea with this one?

KAggie97 (3529) - Ugly, Hot, and Humid Spring, Texas, USA - MAR 5, 2011
Pours an average glassy yellow with a nose of sweetened corn and short-bus wheat. Taste is slightly glamorous cornsyrup wheat and Frosted Flakes. Average mouthfeel. Whopptidy fuck. I’ve rated all the Shiner beers.

Pours a stupid clear yellow with an aroma of short-bus corn. Flavor is weak copper and mineral water. Watery mouthfeel. This stuff should only be given to people you hate.

Bottle courtesy Fratto, who got it from pikapp327. It’s always traced back to pikapp327. Well here we are. When this bottle was brought out of the fridge, the group erupted in groans. Apparently they aren’t too excited about a pale lager, regardless of who it’s from. I poured it in my glass and scrambled for my phone to take a picture of the head but by the time I pulled up the camera the head had all but disappeared. Oh well. It HAD a fizzy white head with a very clear straw appearance for the body.

The aroma is not very good. Kinda trashy, old grains, slight souring notes and gym socks. Not fresh gym socks though. The sweaty kind that you forget in your gym bag until you open it up after sitting in the garage for several weeks.

Flavor is tons of corn and rice notes, with watery notes and metallic characteristics. I’m sorry, I know I don’t often trounce a beer I’m reviewing, especially from my home team but....this is crap. Don’t bother trying this.

Really didn’t taste much different from any other domestic light beers. Bud light under the Shiner label.
