355ml bottle. Pours black with a small head. Aroma is dry and roasty beef. Taste has roast to start and some beef in the finish. A bit watery.

Bottle morrisons. Black colour tan head soon dissapates. Choc coffee aroma. Taste is coffee roasted malts and smoke. Thin quite watery body medium carbonation. Ok beer.

Beese (3296) - Watford, Hertfordshire, ENGLAND - JAN 6, 2014
Bottle from Morrisons in Hatch End. Poured a pitch black colour with a dense tan head, which rapidly dissipated. Aroma was quite sweet, with notes of vanilla and cocoa nibs, but with some roasted malt to balance. Mouth feel was pretty full, but the forceful carbonation slightly dulled the smoothness. Initial flavours of black syrup, liquorice and tobacco. Finish was burnt malt, earth and pine needles. Not a bad stout, but the force, soda like carbonation is a bit of a downer.

Very dark beer with a thin, beige head. The aroma is toasted malt and a slight fruit edge. The flavour is an initial hit of tangy fruit and coffee-esque malt. The finish is surprisingly hoppy but it’s also a touch watery, which is a shame. A pleasant, drinkable beer but not one I’d rush back to.

UPDATED: JAN 3, 2014 Pours black with a tan head. Subtle roast aromas. Creamy with flavor of milk chocolate. Very solid beer.

355ml dark glass bottle. Filtered. Imported from USA by Marstons. Black body. Modest carbonation. Pleasant body - neither too thin nor too thick. There’s a fresh American oak aroma and taste with hints of vanilla. This is a smooth dark beer with restrained flavours, and a moderate through gently growing final bitterness. Attractive acidity lifts the experience, but on the whole, while pleasant, there’s not a lot here to get excited about.

Such a dark appearance and golden head, a very visually appealing beer. Strong roasted malt aroma although there are sweeter hints in there too. Slightly bitter but dark and very strong roasted taste as well, almost too strong for my tastes. Very prolific stout, especially if you’re a fan of strong tastes.

Bottle sample at a tasting at the Beer & Beyond shop. Thanks zvikar. Black with a nice tan head. Aroma of chocolate, a bit of roasted grains, slightly tart fruitiness, sugary notes and a milky hint. Roasty flavor, a bit acidic, with coffee notes and light fruitiness. Medium-bodied.

From Morrisons. Oily pitch capped with tan. Bittersweet, fruity aroma mingling cocoa, dried black grapes, Christmas pudding and molasses. Thinner, more brittle flavour with yeast extract, rust and carbonised wood notes. Good ashy finish with a chocolate, tobacco and grilled pepper linger. Full body at the strength. Faint tang of bramble beneath the chocolate and rust. Surprisingly good- pretty happy I accidentally bought 2 bottles.
