Bottle from GBBF 2011 and drunk at home. Black beer with thin tan head. Too roasty. Some decent choc. Too carbonated. There is that papery, newspapery flavour in get in some stouts like this that I just don’t like. Some juicy black fruitiness to balance and some hops on end to complement the carbonic acid bite. It’s just a touch empty. There appears to be no soul in this. It’s a stout by the numbers and not by conviction. Nothing wrong with it. Just not my kinda stout.

Bottle. It pours a more or less black body and a small, dense, dark beige head. Roasted, coffee-ish aroma with a touch of dark chocolate. Roasted, coffee-ish flavor too, also with some chocolate. Dry, full-bodied and quite pleasantly carbonated. Lasting roasted finish. Although a bit one dimensional, it’s a pleasant and tasteful beer I won’t shy away from drinking again. 110819

355ml bottle (Kitty’s, Helsinki) - shared by mjs - thanks
Nice fruity stout aroma, and a touch of rotting fruit too. Good roast stout, but a dry dry palate. Nice tingle, but too dry for me. A touch disappointing after the aroma.
