Bottle from BevMo. Pours very black with a very large tan head. Aromas of chocolate and dark toast malt. Medium minus body with mild carbonation. Flavor is chocolate, coffee and really dark malt. A bit thin, but otherwise a good drink. Seems astringent, which might equate with dry. Pretty tasty, but not to die for. I’d pick it over quite a few others. Bottle. Poured black color with a huge fizzy light brown head that lasted with good lacing. Solid roasted malt aroma. Medium body with a creamy texture. Dark brown with tan head. Aroma is mostly coffee, with some chocolate as well. Taste is bitter coffee, with a bit of chocolate. Not very rich -- tastes more like a porter than a stout. Lubiere (13995) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - JAN 25, 2011
A deep dark stout with a thin moka head. In aroma, a sweet caramel malt, butterscotch, and light chocolate. In mouth, a kight watery stout with butterscotch, faint chocolate, rather boring. On tap at Mr. Beery’s , Jan 3 2011. Drake (13954) - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA - JUL 2, 2011
12 ounce bottle from State Line Liquors, opened 3/15/11. Pours a very dark brown color with a thin tan head. Good head retention and lacing. Aroma of roasted malts, sweet caramel notes and a nutty note. The taste is roasted malts, sunflower seeds and tart fruits that seem like they’re not supposed to be there. Thin bodied. Black with a small tan head. Aroma of toffee, chocolate and a faint roasted note. Chocolate and burnt ashy flavour. Very one-dimensional.
