Tap. Pours opaque black with a medium, creamy tan head, long retention with excellent lacing. Aroma leather and roast malt with prunes and earthy hops. Flavor is malt dominant with light hops and bitterness and a dry finish. Light body and medium carbonation. Dogbrick (13027) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - OCT 13, 2003
Thanks to BierBauch for the trade. This beer pours a very dark brown (almost black) with a medium dark beige head. Thin lacing. Strong roasted coffee aroma with a hint of malt as well. Moderately dry with coffee dominating the flavor. There is a subtle roasted malt and smoky character in the flavor as well. The finish is lightly bitter hops. Solid. crossovert (12934) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - SEP 20, 2016
355ml twist off (Still?) bottle. It is overcarbed, but if it wasn’t it would be a fine looking beer. Cola/bronw color and a large tan head. Aroma is typical dry stout, bit of coffee, bit of cocoa, bit of metal, grain, leafy hops, oxidized licorice. Surprisingly not heavily oxidized as this bottle is about a month past it’s BB, the havy carb might help. Flavor is predictably metallic, fruity though, some oxidation in a sherry form coming through, licorice and coffee, huge carb. It tastes like the stale English imports from years back, they’ve done a good job imitating old english brews with this one, maybe i should try it fresh and properly carbed someday.. It’s nothing to behold. hopdog (12584) - Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA - FEB 20, 2005
Poured a dark black color with an averaged sized, light brown head. Subtle aromas of chocolate and roasted malts. Light coffee in the taste.

12 oz bottle-pours a rocky brown head with ink black color. Aroma is coffee, malt, a crispness/estringent. Taste-the estringent is the first impact, then coffee, malt. Medium body. Not usually my taste, but maybe got an infected one here. Sammy (12211) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - AUG 23, 2008
Surprisingly decently drinking stout . Pours black with malt in aroma. Balanced, and not as dry, and decent balance of roast and malt and a bit of chocolate, all at sessionable ABV. Bottle..finished before lunch begins. slowrunner77 (12051) - Reno, Nevada, USA - SEP 15, 2010
UPDATED: OCT 3, 2014 just above average in just about everything that counts. a nice dry irish with lots of roasted malts, but nothing special, and of course, a tad thin. a decent beer, but not one i’ll return too. rosenbergh (11532) - Tampere, FINLAND - MAR 17, 2013
355 ml bottle. BB M/13. (K-Citymarket) Jyväskylä, Finland.Meilby (11495) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - AUG 20, 2011
I’m not quite sure about the ABV as it’s not mentioned on the label. But it’s illegal to sell any beers with more than 4.7% in the supermarkets and I bought this from one. Black colour with a small tan head. The aroma is roasted malt, coffee, grassy hops and mild bitterness. Not bad. The flavour is quite simple with roasted malt, dry grainy notes, grassy hops and some mild bitterness. Very drinkable. Slightly thin.
Bottle 355ml @ TFODRBSG11, Ulfborg
Pours black with almost no head. Aroma has notes of roasted malt, chocolate, and oatmeal. Taste is medium sweet and light bitter. Body is medium, texture is thin, carbonation is soft.
