PNWbrew (2) - - SEP 27, 2015 does not count
2013 edition out of a 750ml bottle into wine glass Aroma: toasty, alcoholic, maybe slight fruity esters Appearance: dark copper, orangish brown color, light head that dissapates quickly (fine for the amount of alcohol). Nothing major against it. Taste: malty, sweet, and toasty. You can really taste the bourbon barrel aged part of this beer. Not over powered, but could be a little more blended into the total taste. After the initial taste of dark malt and bourbon you get some dark fruit and like flavors. Palate: standard ale texture, alcohol comes through on palate. Only mark off is I feel like there should be more mouthfeel. Overall: solid beer. Really like having a bourbon barrel that isn’t a stout or scotch ale. Definitely one of the better beers I have had recently. i would say it’s probably worth the price tag.

BBB63 (6557) - La Porte, Indiana, USA - APR 4, 2015
2013 BBA Prelude (# 02266) and served in snifter: Mahagany hues with quickly fading head and not any lace. Hefty bourbon notes, caramel, bread, dark fruits, molasses and touch of butterscotch which is actually appropriate here. What is not however is the medicinal band-aid esters, slightly distracting. Starting to pickup the wet cardboardy oxidation that is due time could be a non issue if this English-Styled Strong ale ages gracefully. Overall not too shabby at all...very interested to see what this could become should Chris still has some in the cellar.
