Pours brown with an attractive tan head and a toasty aroma. There is an herbal smoked malt flavor with a dry slightly bitter finish. Maria (10212) - Thisted, DENMARK - SEP 3, 2009
The color is clear, red-brown and the notes in the aroma are roasted malt, caramel and syrup. The sweet flavor has notes of roasted malt, caramel, light syrup, chocolate, cocoa and the finish is dry and citrussy. sebletitje (10080) - Enghien, BELGIUM - MAR 27, 2009

Ibrew2or3 (8614) - Tempe, Arizona, USA - SEP 28, 2009
12oz bottle pours clear deep amber and tan head with brown highlights. This has a nice aroma full of caramel malts, nuttiness and some roasty malts. The taste is similar with lots of caramel malts moving into nuttiness, a dash of chocolate and mild notes of malt roastiness. Nice brown. Svesse (8601) - Hässelby, SWEDEN - SEP 11, 2010
(Bottle) Reddish brown colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, toasty nose with notes of dark bread, chocolate, burnt sugar, dried fruit and hints of coffee. Malty, toasty taste with dark rye bread, chocolate, brown sugar, some coffee, caramel and a spicy finish with a hint of bitter almonds. Medium body, with a slight sweetness. Slightly harsh and not really in perfect balance. Still tasty and drinkable. Plovmand (8312) - Helsinge, DENMARK - SEP 2, 2009

Habersham Beverage Warehouse, Savannah, Ga. - 12 oz bottle. Dark copper pour with a light off white head. Aroma has hints of chocolate and some caramel. Flavor has a lot going on. Root beer hard candy, horehand candy, caramel, chocolate and licorice. Very full bodied and flavorful. Mouthfeel is thickish and clean, with just the right amount of carbonation. Overall, excellent - probably the best from Shipyard yet. Ughsmash (7508) - Pewaukee, Wisconsin, USA - OCT 28, 2007
2006 bottling, BB 07/06. Poured clear, darker copper with an explosive cap of beige head (1" liquid, 6" head). The aroma picked up dusty sweeter chocolates and cocoa with a bit of English floral notes.. definitely some sourness creeping in due to age. The flavor was quite tasty.. sweeter chocolate, light molasses, brown sugar, and vanilla with rising vinegary tartness toward the back (managed to compliment the maltage rather well).. sweeter finish with a mild herbal bitterness. Lighter-bodied and smooth across the middle of the palate.. light bitterness and some sour notes toward the back. Held up better than it probably should have, but doesn’t have much (if any) life left.
