Poured into a pint glass. Finger and a half of tan head, black as a country night body.
Smells rich and dark: molasses, black licorice, and roasted and burnt malt.
Tastes quite rich as well. Lots of black molasses, a good amount of bitterness too. Then the burnt malt rolls in and it’s all over.
Heavy body, almost chewy and low carbonation.
Pretty amazing. Strong, dark and tasty.
Best Before March 2013 bomber. I’d gather this is the 2012/5 year old. Pours almost completely black, with some faint ruby hues coming through. Gigantic long lasting frothing rocky lacing head. Oxidized somewhat, but appetizing. Chocolate Milk nose, with some sours, and traces of coffee on the nose. Alcohol very muted. This is really nice and creamy. Carbonation is supple. Lightly soured cream, coffee, toffee, and chocolate. Citric hops. Roasted grain. Bread. Water-cracker. Faint bread yeast. Alcohol is reasonably well hidden. Some chewy biscuit malts still in there. Body is appropriate. Finish is exceptionally clean, with long lasting red-grapes, blackberries, and a touch of lemon. It was in a cellar the whole time, in an area I forgot about. Je ne me souviens plus qui m’a donné ça, mais ça goûte en effet le 17 pour le style. Des traces de mauvaise essence de vanille - la petite bouteille transparente qu’on ne sort qu’une fois aux trois ans pour cuisiner un gâteau après s’être dit: ’’messemble j’ai ça kek part’’. 625ml bottle from the LCBO in Toronto, Ontario. Very dark ruby in colour with a large and very long lasting tan head, excellent lacing. The aroma is of coffee, roasted malts, chocolate and vanilla. The flavour is roasty, some dark fruits, chocolate and coffee, milky. Bitter mouthfeel, medium body, medium carbonation. Finishes long, roasty bitter with a bit of sweetness. Bomber from Antioch Fine Wine, cellar aged 3 months. Very dark brown pour with a brown head. Some nice lacing. Aroma begins with belgian chocolate and roast, and later down in the glass - some caramel, a bit of smoke, some licorice and some earth. Taste is of sweet caramel, bakers chocolate, some molasses, some earth, leather and some roast. Maybe some char too. Nose beats the flavor, which is a shame as the nose portends something very nice. Medium to full bodied with a touch of alcohol. Finishes to the sweet side of bittersweet, with some tang. "after the letdown of the Barleywine last month, I wasn’t expecting much and was pleasantly surprised. Enough hops to balance a bit, but the aroma is dominated by roasted malt, and the f;avor chocolate. Quite tasty. Nice dry finish. Fairly smooth, medium-full bodied. Deep black under a thin khaki head, with an amazing aroma of deep bittersweet chocolate, a touch of molasses, a little mint, and some roasty black malt and crystal malt. Big malty flavor with a touch of syrupiness and roast/char, deep bittersweet chocolate, and a wee bit of effervescent herbal tones. Bomber - been in my fridge for, oh, 4 years? 5?? Deep brown-black with a huge lasting fluffy tan head. Aroma is very appealing - cocoa, light herbal bitterness, some table cream and a hint of mint. Taste follows, but thinner, and a touch sour. Light body, mild carbonation, surprisingly quick finish with a light cocoa aftertaste. Black, gushing. Dark berries, blue berries. Some acidic.. vibes. Full bodied soft, chocolate(dark), bitters, sort of dark roasty berry fruits in finish. Ok.
