COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Shipyard Monkey Fist IPA is the genesis of a new generation of IPA. The traditional elements of classic English IPA have been redefined by American craft beer innovation. Like the image suggests, Monkey Fist is edgy, aggressive, and unique in style. This beer is brilliant copper in color and exploding with Chinook and Cascade hop character but able to maintain a beautiful balance. Monkey Fist holds up to the spiciest foods or is delicious savored just on its own. And, in case you didnt know, a Monkey Fist is the knot tied at the end of a sailors rope to serve as a weight and make it easier to throw. Cheers!

Poured from can. Has a sweet citrus aroma. Pours a clear amber with off white head. Taste is heavy bitter. Medium body, sticky texture, lively carbonation, with a bitter finish. A nice strong IPA, a bit rough around the edges with a lingering bitterness, but that is good sometimes.

375ML split 2 ways. dark amber red, 1 finger off white head. smells like most standard IPAs. Pine, some blue cheese and bitter orange peel. Decent mouthfeel, it has a very nice sweet grapefruit taste and some blueberry. Cream like finish. Bland but overall, a solid IPA.

Pours an amber from a tap, good fruity piney Cascade aroma, classic bitterness with a little fruity sweetness as well. Good beer.

A shiny red can bought at the SAQ. Pours a clear strong golden (light copper?) with a small white head that leaves nice lacing. Nose is of caramel and resin, not too fragrant but still not too bad. Taste is moderately sweet and bitter, lightly grainy. Hop flavors are a bit earthy, a bit piny. Not that exciting, really. Body is medium, carbonation moderately and mouthfeel slightly oily. Overall your standard "old style" IPA, not that good but Im glad the SAQ is adding to their beer offering.

From the tap the aroma is sharp but very light ale hard to capture the aroma fully in a pint glass, the pour is clear and a dark amber to almost brown, taste is sharp very hoppy and bitter, there is a grapefruit hint to the finish but only the sour of the grapefruit no distinguishable sweetness, over a strong ipa but a funky after flavor

Good lacing. Slightly medeciny taste. Bitter, but not as much aroma as I would like.
