Theres no way its just 6.7% ABV. I wont believe it.

Heres a simple rule, for Winter Warmers, Doubles, Imperials and other Strong Ales: Beer shouldnt sear your nostrils or your mouth. Whats really at fault here are my expectations and the thought that heres supposed to be a warming booziness. Instead for some reason its cold. Real cold that shoots straight from the glass up the nose and doesnt improve with the first or second sip.

Toffee, pomegranate juice and rubbing alcohol mix awkwardly in a fine mahogany glaze.

Its Chimay Premire without the distribution or the flavor.

Very thin brown head. Colour of a bitter. Slightly malty aroma. Not terribly full flavour.

Dark brownish-amber color with a medium foamy light beige head that diminishes steadily to an outer ring. Strings of lacing. Malt, caramel, spice and fruit in the nose. Medium body with flavors of caramel malt, earthy hops and spiced fruit. The finish is fruity with a banana and malt aftertaste. Decent overall.

Dark brown pour with thin tan top that fades to a ring. Aroma of cooked sugar, dark bread, and a slightly spicy booze. Flavor is very similar and thats a good thing. Semisweet, malty with a fairly clean, semi-dry finish. Never bitter, and as most other reviewers have mentioned, most importantly none of the flavor is overdone. Very enjoyable.

Cerveja gostosa com aroma frutado... sabor amadeirado e seco. Baixo amargor. Dizem ser o melhor rtulo da Shipyard. Essa a primeira que experimento da marca. Vale a pena!

Drank from a pint glass at Niks Wunderbar in Whitehouse, NJ. Pours beautiful color, with nice head. Nice aroma, not a great taste.

355ml twist off. This is a nice one actually. Buttery toffee notes, big English yeast character. Mellow booze despite the abv. Bit too buttery but its drinkable.

Dark orange with white head. Sample pour at Shipyard in Portland, Maine. Every beer here I've had is gross. Tastes like someone mowed the lawn and fed me the grass

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, best before 6/28/2015. Pours fairly crystal clear reddish brown color with a 2 finger fairly dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a light amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big caramel, toffee, brown sugar, toasted biscuit, raisin, plum, fig, light chocolate/nuttiness, herbal, floral, light pepper, and yeast earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/bready malts, earthy hops, and fruity yeast notes; with good strength. Taste of big caramel, toffee, brown sugar, toasted biscuit, raisin, plum, fig, light chocolate/nuttiness, herbal, floral, pepper, and yeast earthiness. Moderate amount of herbal/spicy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, toffee, brown sugar, toasted biscuit, raisin, plum, fig, light chocolate/nuttiness, and herbal/yeast earthiness on the finish for a while. Damn nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready malt, earthy hops, and fruity yeast flavors; with a nice malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready, and lightly sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a damn nice English strong ale style. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready malt, earthy hops, fruity yeast flavors; and very smooth and easy to drink for the ABV. A very enjoyable offering.
