3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
12 oz. bottle from Sam’s.
Ar: Up front, toffee and nutty notes.
Ap: Pours a clear dark brown-copper with a nice, frothy 1" head. Great lace rings.
T: Strong toffee nutty flavors. Finish has some pine, and maybe even a touch of booze.
P: Creamy body, moderate carbonation.
O: Pleasantly surprised with this one.
Pours a deep chestnut color with a thin off white head.......aroma is indeed nutty, sweet, bread dough......taste is slightly sweet, malt breadiness, refreshing mid palate with nice bite of unmistakeable English hard water malt combination which blend well and don’t step on each other, and hops which do not dominate. Quite a refreshing brew. Well done. mahkus (136) - Aberdeen, SCOTLAND - JAN 10, 2017
Very thin brown head. Colour of a bitter. Slightly malty aroma. Not terribly full flavour. Dogbrick (13144) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - DEC 29, 2016
Dark brownish-amber color with a medium foamy light beige head that diminishes steadily to an outer ring. Strings of lacing. Malt, caramel, spice and fruit in the nose. Medium body with flavors of caramel malt, earthy hops and spiced fruit. The finish is fruity with a banana and malt aftertaste. Decent overall. tekstr1der (491) - New Hampshire, USA - DEC 28, 2016
Dark brown pour with thin tan top that fades to a ring. Aroma of cooked sugar, dark bread, and a slightly spicy booze. Flavor is very similar and that’s a good thing. Semisweet, malty with a fairly clean, semi-dry finish. Never bitter, and as most other reviewers have mentioned, most importantly none of the flavor is overdone. Very enjoyable. emiliotormena (2) - - JUN 17, 2016 does not count
Cerveja gostosa com aroma frutado... sabor amadeirado e seco. Baixo amargor. Dizem ser o melhor rótulo da Shipyard. Essa é a primeira que experimento da marca. Vale a pena!

Pours a deep golden amber color. Aromas of caramel, fruit, and a touch of yeast. Flavors of light fruit, malts, and a nice touch of hops. N3lson1 (1005) - Long Valley, New Jersey, USA - MAR 26, 2016
Drank from a pint glass at Nik’s Wunderbar in Whitehouse, NJ. Pours beautiful color, with nice head. Nice aroma, not a great taste. crossovert (13078) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAR 26, 2016
355ml twist off. This is a nice one actually. Buttery toffee notes, big English yeast character. Mellow booze despite the abv. Bit too buttery but it’s drinkable. kaser (6314) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - OCT 31, 2015
Dark orange with white head. Sample pour at Shipyard in Portland, Maine. Every beer here I've had is gross. Tastes like someone mowed the lawn and fed me the grass superspak (5675) - Michigan, USA - SEP 19, 2015
12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, best before 6/28/2015. Pours fairly crystal clear reddish brown color with a 2 finger fairly dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a light amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big caramel, toffee, brown sugar, toasted biscuit, raisin, plum, fig, light chocolate/nuttiness, herbal, floral, light pepper, and yeast earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/bready malts, earthy hops, and fruity yeast notes; with good strength. Taste of big caramel, toffee, brown sugar, toasted biscuit, raisin, plum, fig, light chocolate/nuttiness, herbal, floral, pepper, and yeast earthiness. Moderate amount of herbal/spicy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, toffee, brown sugar, toasted biscuit, raisin, plum, fig, light chocolate/nuttiness, and herbal/yeast earthiness on the finish for a while. Damn nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready malt, earthy hops, and fruity yeast flavors; with a nice malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready, and lightly sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a damn nice English strong ale style. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready malt, earthy hops, fruity yeast flavors; and very smooth and easy to drink for the ABV. A very enjoyable offering.
