Bottle. The pour was a thick pitch black with a huge (3-4 finger) light/medium brown creamy head that lasted throughout and produced some seriously excellent sheeting of lacing which totally engulfed the glass. The aroma was a tad sweet and had a strong blueberry presence along with some roasted chocolate malts and a sweet doughy yeast with hints of milk chocolate and roasted coffee. The taste was extremely malty and a bit sweet with the blueberry presence right up front and then progressed into a mild bitter taste with notes of coffee and chocolate (which fought for dominance with the blueberry) before having a mildly sweet finish. The flavor lasted a very long time after the swallow with a nice bitter sweet blueberry chocolate taste, which lead up to a slight alcohol warming sensation at the end. Mouthfeel was a bit beyond medium in body with a creamy dry texture and a soft carbonation. Overall a brew which has a mild battle of flavors fighting on the taste buds, eventually neither wins and they wind up blending in a superb fashion creating a fantastic explosion of flavor that leaves you wanting more...

750 ml bottle to plastic pint cup. Looks good; a translucent cola with beige head that steadily dissipates into lacing. Smells blueberry-forward with notes of chocolate and oak. Tastes like it smells with a bit of coffee as well. Mouthfeel is medium full-bodied and finishes mildly to moderately tart from the blueberries. Enjoyable.

Draft pour at bar. Pours a really deep black with very small light head. Very crisp blueberry taste on the front end followed by a smooth chocolate finish.

Much more interesting than any other fruit beer I’ve tried, this one has some remarkable qualities. Pours dark brown with a tan head that lingers. Was not expecting that. Aroma permeates the room thoroughly. Amazing. On closer inspection the smell of fresh smashed blueberry melds with a firm cocoa presence. The flavor continues this chocolate-covered blueberry thing quite well, and as it warms the tart berry comes out more so. Finishes fairly dry with a lingering chocolate aftertaste.

Rating #1819 - 2015.07.06 - Bottle from CBI - Pours a deep mahogany with a bubbly tan head that dissipates rather quickly. Aroma is chocolate, roast malts, mild berry jam. Blueberry jam is highlighted on the palate, but doesn’t dominate the porter/scotchy character of roast malt bitterness and toffee, cocoa sweetness. Very nice and understated for a fruit beer.

It has been awhile since I haven’t been able to finish a beer, I’m use to big bottles in large abv’s. Super blueberry aromas, and that was it. It looked nice, but the blueberry aroma, and the malt bill, just left for a boozy awkward flavor that fell down at every chance.

UPDATED: JUL 28, 2016 Brown color. Chocolate and blueberry aromas. Taste is sweet bluberries, but never overwhelming, chocolate, roasted. Blueberry taste lingers on during the finish. Feels like a blueberry Imperial Porter. Really cool.

Pours, dark purple red, tan head. Aroma is straight blueberries. Kinda malty almost like blueberry pie. Flavor is caramel, blueberry pie, malty, some of the browned crust. Very thick. Overall very good... quite tasty and refreshing even on a hot day.
