[cask at the Wellington, Birmingham] Dark ruby pour with a thin head that reduces pretty quickly to almost nothing. On the aroma, chocolately malt predominates – which leads into the taste before the finish becomes more coffee than chocolate. Good depth of flavour for it’s abv DanielBrown (4519) - Birmingham (via Leicester), West Midlands, ENGLAND - MAY 18, 2011
Hand pulled at the Wellington, Birmingham. Chestnut red brown, with speckled head. A flavour that reminds me of heaving myself through acres of UK ales at Olympia. Thin in gob. Some sweet roasted malts with some ghost of cherry liqueur; then glossy, icey nothing. On balance, disappointing. berkshirejohn (6530) - Bracknell, Berkshire, ENGLAND - DEC 5, 2008
[Cask at the Wellington, Birmingham.] Deep tawny brown with a thin tan head - tar and tobacco aromas - lactic and rather thin to start, then becoming floury and dry before a sweeter finish. An excellent mild. dnas2 (705) - Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, ENGLAND - OCT 21, 2007
Cask at The Wellington, Birmingham. Cloudy, dark brown. Nutty with some coffee in the scent. Quite sweet but also bitter with a very dry end. Coffee in the mouth. Spoilt by a chemical-tasting end.
