Amber pour with an off-white head. Actually a half-decent aroma. Banana, toasted bread, chocolate, and yeast. Mild spicing and a light cardboard quality. Kind of a watery flavor and a touch of cardboard, but not bad otherwise. Faint spice notes, hints of chocolate, banana, toast, and bread. Light in body and rather highly carbonated. bhensonb (15490) - Woodland, California, USA - DEC 30, 2012
Bottle from Total Wine in Sacramento, CA. Pours dark amber with a fizzy/creamy beige head. Aroma is a dilute chocolate? Med body. Flavor is sort of the old style chocolate malt candy. Horlicks? Kind of dry, or at least not too sweet. Another AB beer which demands "why?" djd07 (15282) - Houston, Texas, USA - JAN 16, 2013

Not even pitch black in color in fact pretty light. Flavor is extremely weak and the mouthfeel is watery. j12601 (12973) - Poughkeepsie, New York, USA - NOV 10, 2012
Bottle at James’ place for a tasting. Pours a lightly hazed amber brown with a thin white head. Soft spices and a touch of yeast on the nose. Medium bodied, burnt spices, a touch of warming alcohol. Spicy on the finish, a bit of burnt spices and an earthy bitterness. hopdog (12816) - Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 21, 2014
12oz bottle. Poured an amber color with an averaged sized head. Chocolate and spices. Bland, watery and blah. slowrunner77 (12455) - Reno, Nevada, USA - SEP 22, 2014
"For a mass product, it was ok - but having this brew (with similar extra-cirricular ingredients) after Mayan Maybe showcased the weaknesses. It’s drinkable and fairly tasty, but the spices used are light, as is the body. Needs to be a little more assertive to be taken seriously."
