2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
12 oz bottle says 5.2%. Poured into a Samuel Smith pint glass.
A: Pours a hazy golden color. The head is a quick-fading two finger white shade. Not the most aesthetically pleasing brew.
S: Is this beer, or is it cider? There are strong apple tones throughout, along with a bit of tartness and some diacetyl. Jolly Ranchers come instantly to mind here. The minor beer qualities here aren’t too hot.
T: This may well be cider, with its big sweetness and apple flavors, but there’s also some finishing diacetyl that I could do without. The malty finish tries to balance some of the cider sweetness...only it turns it into beery sweetness that’s a bit more unpleasant. None of the advertised spices come through well.
M: Thick and sweet, as expected. Lots of carbonation, too. The problem here is that it’s so damn sweet that it kills drinkability - and it can’t get away with it the way a pure commercial cider like Angry Orchard can.
O: I totally get this point of this product, combining a sweet apple cider with a generic witbier - the problem is it tries to be everything to everyone, and as a result, doesn’t do either the cider or the beer aspect well enough to appeal to discerning craft beer/cider drinkers (plus the whole "it’s made by AB-InBev" thing). Not bad for a malternative, though.
Bottle from somewhere. Aroma of honeycrisp apples and straw. Tastes like apple juice. Cavie (4775) - Arlington, Texas, USA - MAR 17, 2017
Bottle. Hazy appearance. Golden color. Apple aroma, some spice. Candy aroma, Twizzlers or jolly rancher. Apple cider flavors, low malty bready notes. Wheat notes. Low spice. JPDIPSO (6262) - Wauwatosa, USA - JAN 30, 2017
Hazed, pale straw colored liquid, with a taller dense off-white head. Jolly rancher sour apple scents. A strawberry shortcake aroma develops along with hints of rhubarb. Lets just say it is an interesting nose. Initial flavors have reminders of nail polish remover. Some circus peanuts and candy apples follow. Very flowery and perfumy. The flavors aren’t as bad as they might sound, because that are muted by the sweetness, but they are what I detect. As it sets it becomes a watery cider. 3/13

12 oz bottle served in a glass.
Loads of apple aroma; returning to the room where I left this beer, I could smell the apples from a few feet away. Surprisingly natural and appealing apple aroma at that. The flavor is not quite as good. It’s a bit too sweet and really more cider than beer. Refreshing, with a smooth body and medium carbonation. ajnepple (6981) - Denver, Colorado, USA - DEC 24, 2016
12 oz bottle. Pale golden, slight hazy appearance with a small white head. Aroma of apples, light toasted malt and light spice. Similar flavor, adding moderate sweetness. Light body with an apple cider finish. Not bad.

Hard to justify rating this as a beer, so I won’t try. Labels aside, this is a pretty decent malt beverage. Lots of juicy fresh apple aroma and flavor. Not really cider-like. More like Motts apple juice with carbonation. Pours a headless hazy amber. Very sweet, but not heavy or syrupy. hershiser2 (3591) - Charlottesville, Virginia, USA - NOV 12, 2016
Kroger bottle. Golden, large white head. As soon as it popped I smelled an apple jolly rancher. Holy shit is the aroma strong. Taste is similar. Too sweet up front. Yuck. This is what dropping an apple jolly rancher in beer would be like.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, bottled on 4/7/2016. Pours hazy golden yellow color with a 1-2 finger dense white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of tart green apples, lemon, orange peel, pear, coriander, clove, light pepper, wheat, cracker, herbal, and yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity/earthy yeast, apple/spices, and moderate pale malt notes; with solid strength. Taste of tart green apples, lemon, orange peel, pear, coriander, clove, light pepper, wheat, cracker, herbal, and yeast earthiness. Light fruit tartness and herbal/yeast spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of tart green apples, lemon, orange peel, pear, coriander, clove, light pepper, wheat, cracker, herbal, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Nice complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/earthy yeast, apple/spices, and moderate pale malt flavors; with a great malt/tart/spiciness balance, and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light dryness from tart/spiciness as well. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/grainy, fairly crisp, and lightly acidic/sticky balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 5.2%. Overall this is a good fruited witbier style. All around good complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/earthy yeast, apple/spices, and moderate pale malt flavors; very smooth, refreshing, and fairly crisp to drink. A nicely enjoyable offering. mikske79 (1727) - Puerto Plata, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC - OCT 15, 2016
De geur is net als een fruitsap, zeer zoet en lekker. Een mooie schuimkraag, de kleur mooi blond. De smaak is zoals een goed appelbier zoals newton. DuffMan (10606) - the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, CANADA - OCT 14, 2016
Bottle, sampled at Medicine Hat Beerfest 2016. Fizzy pale gold, apple candy aroma and flavour, sweet and soda-like. I don’t like soda to begin with, let alone as a beer.
