Pours nice brown, bit of foam. Aroma has mainly some nutty caramel, not sweet though which is good. Taste has some toffee, nutty flavours and quite straightforward and authentic caramel malts, peppered with a pinch of hops. Goes down nicely and has still enough body, one of the most enjoyable alt beers I have had in Japan. willisread (3350) - Nashville, Tennessee, USA - FEB 12, 2016
Bottle shared with Kanagawa friends back in 2012. Light dried fruit and toasted caramel malts on the nose and light nuttiness. Taste is fairly simple with dried fruit coming out. Sweetish finish with some light dryness. biirusaikou (2705) - - JUL 3, 2015
Draught at Mokichi. Classic caramel and dried fruit profile, roasted malt. a bit nutty, mild sweet finish. Pretty straight-forward but OK I guess for the style compared to so many mediocre Alt’s currently on the market. shoulderbroken (4255) - Tokyo, JAPAN - OCT 8, 2013
Keyaki. Copper coloured, small golden head. Aroma is bit stinky, quite sweet, caramel but skunky too. Quite interesting but maybe not intentional. Taste is decent, light caramel, quite woody, bit of creaminess. Cherry maybe too. Quite nice.

A think a recipe change is in order here. I know this is their flag ship beer, but they are doing really good things these days, but this was just - there..Soft caramel nose. Grainy. Thin, some caramel and a touch of toffee with a pretty weak bitterness in the finish. Not really too Alt like, unless you talk are talking Japanese Alt :P. maekchu (3917) - Hirakata, JAPAN - JUN 8, 2012
Bottle (gift from Neko-chan). Very malty aroma, somewhat sourish, with yeast. Copper-orange, cloudy, very little head. Light sweetness, bready, a bit too much yeast on the the tongue in mid palate. Thin, and leaves a hint of malt residue (maybe just a memory of long-gone malt). Moderately pleasant, but there’s not a lot of interest in this bottle. Draught in the Mokichi Trattoria at the Shonan Brewery. Lovely hazy red brown colour, medium fluffy, foamy white head. Nose is sherberty fruity. Taste is a nice belnd of fruity red hop with toasty malt character. Red fruit tang blends nicely with a malt. KyotoLefty (10264) - Kyoto, JAPAN - APR 11, 2009
Bottle. Solid amber color with orange tints, and a middling to low, thick and tight head. Pretty and appetizing. Slightly sweet, malt-rich aroma with dark fruits, molasses, raisins, and a touch of chocolate. Malty, slightly chocolatly and fruity flavor, but not overly rich. Rather dry finish. Good balance. A very sessionable amber ale with rich malt flavors and fruits. Lightly hopped but finishes dry. Decent stuff.

Slightly hazy reddish-brown colour. Slightly toasty aroma with woody notes and light caramel. Rich caramel and toasty palate. Clean and balanced, but gets lighter towards the finish.
