On tap at HopCat Ann Arbor on 12/10/16. Pours clear red with a thin beige head. Aroma of cinnamon, bourbon, malt and rum. Malty flavor with some cinnamon before a boozy finish. On draft at HopCat. The pour is a darker ruby color almost bordering on brown. There is a thick ring of light tan head and no lace. The aroma is spicy and interesting. There is a hint of carrot cake and a light vanilla, though it’s drown out with bourbon and oak. The booze is solid. The flavor is much of the same. There is a strong carrot cake booziness and a light vanilla. The unique spiciness is really interesting. The mouth feel is thin and light with a thicker carbonation and a lingeringly strong spiciness on the finish. It’s definitely not a great thing, but it’s not undrinkable. On tap at the Shorts Anniversary. Pours a nice dark red color. A lot of different flavors blend together nicely and interesting. A tart sweet sugary taste base it off. A slight alcohol back feel. Growler from Sean - thanks! Clear rusty color in the glass with a scattering of white foam. Bourbon and light spice in the aroma (not necessarily carrot). Taste is lightly bitter bourbon with cream and well, carrot (yeah, it’s in there), with doughy cake. Bourbon goes a bit medicinal toward the finish. Damn I wanted this to be a home run but was still real good. Pours a brown with minimal head. Aroma of sweet cream spices and some Bourbon. Taste is lots of barrel with some cream cheese and spices coming through. Medium body light to.medium carbonation. Tasty but I’m guessing the bourbon takes away from the original which I haven’t tried yet.
