COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Freedom of ’78 is a medium bodied IPA with a wonderful, bright clarity and pleasing bronze hue. The aroma is a unique fusion of citrus fruit and subtle pine qualities. The distinct characteristics of the guava nectar are impossible to miss, and attributes of tangerine, nectarine, and even faint honey flavors are detectable. The finish quickly turns to an expected IPA bitterness that turns dry during prolonged tastings

UPDATED: MAR 27, 2014 The first time I had this one I loved it. I only had one bottle though. I had to wait a year for it to come out again and I instantly bought a case. I still really like it but not as much as I built it up in my head. Still a great beer and one of my favorites by the brewery. The guava is all over this thing. A big hop and tropical aroma. Just the right amount of carbonation. The tropical fruit comes out first in the taste and fades only slightly as it goes down. The hop bitterness meets in a running change and lingers on the tongue well after the sip with a very dry finish. A very drinkable beer. Definitely glad I got a case. Just another example of Shorts strutting their hop muscle.

Bottle through trade, dark amber pour with a thin white head. Aroma of guava and a little off menthol like aroma. Taste is pure guava and some bittering finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

12oz bottle, shared by robotopera. [Rated on 5/15/2012 - moved when I realized I had accidentally uploaded my rate under the wrong brewer] Minimal white head. Clear amber color. Prominent tropical fruit aroma, as well as a good hop bitterness. It’s like a fruit-IPA, very interesting. Nice, lighter crisp carbonation, and dry texture. Good hoppy sweet aftertaste. Bitter, with a sort of tangy sweetness. Really unique, interesting brew. Robby: "Oaty."

Bottle through trade. Pour has a golden orange color with a ring of off white head on the glass. Aroma has guava, pepper, citrus, and some malt. Mouth feel is medium light and the carbonation medium low. Flavor has real guava, citrus, mild bitterness, and a lingering finish. Interesting mix of fruit and hops.

UPDATED: MAR 17, 2014 Remember this one being better than this. Bit sweet with a soapy taste. Glad I only bought the one.

Bottle. Pour is a light orange. The aroma is huge blood orange with some tart/faint sour. The taste is a little thin and funky. The blood orange comes through a lot which actually saves the beer imo. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a hazy deep orange with a small bubbly white head. Aroma of guava, tropical fruits, herbs, cherries and citrus. Flavor of the same guava and tropical fruits. Kind of herbal. Grapefruit and piney hop notes. Nose is sugary but beer is dry.

Poured from 12 oz bottle. Pours a nice copper color. Aroma is cat pee and guava. Sometimes the same smell frankly. Taste is OK, but hard to overcome that aroma

Bottle @ bnielsen13. Thanks to Jeff. Pours a clear dark golden appearance with a cream colored head. Huge spicy guava, passion fruity, mild cake aroma. Weedy, dandelion, thick guava, a bit dank flavor. Jesus, there’s a lot of guava. Sort of interesting.
