COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Anniversary Ale is a high-gravity wheat wine made with blood oranges. Flavors range from the spiciness of green peppercorns to the tang of blood orange zest. Aggressive dry hopping of Simcoe hops amplifies the citrus overtones and spiciness found throughout the beer. Anniversary Ale typifies Short’s Brewing Company by embodying all of the complexities that come along with another year of brewing.

Bottle shared by emacgee. Thanks. Glimmering, fairly translucent, reddish amber with little to no head or lace. Nose presents a strong blood orange aroma, cranberry, banana, guava also feature, but to me it smells more like a sweet tropical punch than a beer. Flavor is sharp and messy. Orange, booze, tea, lots of red fruits, dirty bitter finish. Light lemon tartness, lots of booze this reminded me a lot of an expensive cocktail i had that was set on fire and just full of booze and citrus. Not a big fan. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Clean ruby orange pour with a wispy dirty white head. Very very interesting nose, hard to describe. Rich and ephemeral at the same time, definitely some peppery and zesty notes. CItrus rind and orange flesh for sure with a light malty sweetness. A light astringency from the rind. Medium body with a warming finish and light carbonation.

Pours reddish clear and slitly brown. Small white head.
Peppery, orange, coriander aroma.
Sweet taste.
Palate is thin, watery, tart, slight bitterness - probably from the zest.

Nutty aroma. Clear copper, thin yellow head. Overripe orange, subtle lemongrass. Medium body, easy carbonation. Alcohol readily apparent, but easily drinkable.

Nice dark orange color with little head. Nose of malt and orange peels. Taste of sweet malt but fairly overbearing orange peel bitterness. Not bad which is good considering I have had one bad shorts beer after another. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

12 oz. bottle served in shaker- poured a semi transparent maroon/copper color, very low carbonation, aroma of pepper, citrus (fruit and hops), and a faint note of yeast. Hits the mouth with medium body, malt is very light, the blood orange and pepper tagteam in the middle and slap you around silly, finish is slightly sweetening, drying, and sharp. Very interesting brew.

UPDATED: JUN 15, 2015 bottle. Golden orange with minimal head. the taste is very unique with lots of blood orange. alcohol is extremely well hidden for the crazy ABV. this is an awesome beer.

Deep red, almost brown clear pour that produced lots of bubbles on te inside of the shaker it was poured into. Half inch orange cream head. Hoppy garlic pepper aroma. Sweet rich flavor. Hoppy, lots of distinctly orange flavor. Alcohol content is evident on the finish as are the peppercorns.

I am very leery of any fruit in beer, but I love this stuff! The blood orange pops out on the palate, but quickly fades. Then the peppercorn very subtly tingles the palate; it, too, is not overdone. Doesn’t taste like any barleywine I have had . . . doesn’t taste like any other beer I have had.

Love the color of this beer, looks like a blood orange. Very little head on this guy. Strange beer. The flavors are as described on the label, but not terribly balanced. I really think I like the theory behind this beer more than the beer itself. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
