This bottle somehow got lost in the garage in hot Florida last year but it fared well anyway. Nice beer, blood oranges have faded (as of Jan12) as well as the spices but still noticeable and well-balanced. Alcohol was well-hidden. Blood oranges make it a bit sharp. hopscotch (11311) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - DEC 14, 2011
Bottle… Cloudy burnt caramel ale with an orange tint and a small, short-lived, fizzy, off-white head. The aroma furnishes caramel malts, orange zest and juicy, fallen fuzzy fruits intermingled with wheat graininess and spiciness. Full-bodied and creamy with lazy carbonation. The flavor is fruity and lightly acidic with moderate alcohol and tales of peppercorns and orange peels. Finishes tangy, lightly bitter, raspy, and then quite dry. Bottle courtesy of dmschefke! Bottle at javit’s Birthday Tasting. Pours clear lollipop-orange, thin off-white head, spotty to poor lacing. Interesting colour for a non-IPA beer. Nose is sweet orange (marmalade?), almost smells like orange juice concentrate, very sticky-sweet aroma, joined by mandarin and tangerine aromas as well. Flavours are of concentrated orange syrup, quite sweet, quite strong, off-balance. Not a big fan of this one. jcwattsrugger (12549) - Florida and, New Jersey, USA - NOV 24, 2011

GABF 2011. Murky burnt orange, no head. Intriguing aroma of toffee and caramel malt, mild grassy bitterness, and some cream cheese icing. Flavor has some sweet funky toffee, mild grassy herbal bitterness, some light citrus fruit tones, a faint bit of floralness, balanced between sweet and bitter on a big-medium body. Nothing amazing, but well made. craftbeerdesign (2254) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - OCT 18, 2011
sample at GABF on 10/1/11. deep orange pour with a 1 finger white head. citrus nose with coriander and light spice. big body with spices, coriander, orange peel and citrus bitterness. sweet finish with more spices. mixmasterob (1060) - Atlanta, Georgia, USA - SEP 19, 2011
Bottle thanks to rayl101. Murky dark orange pour with a small white head. Aroma was big time fruit, a touch of sweet malt, some funk, tart. Grapefruit juice. Flavors were heavy on the bitter grapefruit, tart sourness, lots of bittersweet fruits. Finish was big time blood orange and bitter grapefruit juice. Interesting stuff indeed. Fun brew! esjaygee (3906) - Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA - AUG 20, 2011
Mildly hazed blood orange with a large pinkish-white slowly dissolving head. Aroma of what, funk, grains, orange, sweet grapefruit and fruit rind. Taste is tart and a bit sour with grapefruit, orange, malt and some alcohol. A touch pithy and some burn on the back end. Interesting. iowaherkeye (2804) - Ocean Beach, San Diego, California, USA - AUG 19, 2011
Clear toasted orange with a small off-white head, fairly creamy, low retention. From a hand bottle from firmbuttstone. I definitely get the coriander and orange peel first in the aroma, followed by some spicy pepper. There is also some grapefruit rind going on, and a light tang. A little alcohol burns my nose. The flavor is a little more earthy (d/t the peppercorns, most likely) but still pretty well loaded with citrus and citrus peel (the latter more dominant). Not really all that sweet. Fairly fruity midway through to the finish, which was dry and peppery, some alcohol noted. Bitterness peaked at a 5. Low carbonation with a big full body. Not too bad--though it may have sounded slightly more interesting that what I though it actually was.
