Holy shit, this stuff is dank. Smells like the orange glo stuff you mop the floor with, but nicer. This is a high gravity beer that you can enjoy on the hottest of days along the banks of the Detroit River. Man, do I love me some shorts.
Wow, cant believe this is almost 12% ABV. Really hides it well. Good mix of ctrus, malt, and hops. Well balanced. Suiiy is jealous. wnoble (1251) - Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA - JAN 2, 2011
What an awesomely interesting beer! Pours amber. Nose is largely orange, herbal, hops, basil, coriander, lemons, grass. Taste is malts, orange, basil, coriander, pepper, hops, and light malts. Finishes dry and not much bitterness. Slick palate. This is amamazing in the sense that it’s so unique and well made. Fuckin A DalzAle (2037) - Eden Prairie, Minnesota, USA - MAY 9, 2011
Growler thanks to StFun! Clear, but very dark orange/red pour, light lasting lacing and an aroma of sweet blood oranges and a little caramel. Flavor is incredibly unique; toffee, floral bittersweet blood oranges, then jumps into bitter grapefruit, pineapple and finished with a warming and just slightly boozy aftertaste. Very good, I might need to go chasing after a few bottles of this. sarro (134) - Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA - FEB 7, 2011
2010 12oz white logo’d cap (first batch).
Pours a thin candy apple red. Beautiful raspberry hue in the color.
Smell reminds me of a super fruity dipa. Tons of mango, sharp grapefruit, pineapple and orange. Taste is bit of hops, incredibly juicy grapefruit and blood orange with a slightly bitter rind finish. Mouthfeel is medium to thick with sufficient carbonation. This is one of my favorite wheatwines or possibly fruit beers. Very creative and well executed. My favorite Short’s brew by far. No trace of alcohol on the finish. When enjoying this beer be sure to leave the last 2 oz of sediment in the bottle, but you can drink that separately too! ebone1988 (1918) - Dearborn, Michigan, USA - MAY 8, 2014
Aroma is sweet fruit, oranges, hops, peppercorn comes at the back for sure. Appearance is also orange, super light orange head. Taste is sour orange, light hops, grapefruit, and the peppercorn spice is subtle but nice at the end. Mouthfeel is nice, solid carbonation, somewhat thick, got a great orange peel aftertaste. Overall, this beer is on point. I am a huge fan, and I am happy with how many beers Short’s will bottle. Cheers!

Pours an orangish color with an off white head. Smell is immediately magnetic to my nose--the peppercorns and blood orange really make a wonderful pairing. The taste is another step up from there, with the peppercorns not too pronounced and the blood oranges presenting a cacophony of flavors all by themselves. Mouthfeel is exception...thought this was about 5% abv based on taste. Drinkability isn’t that high, although I thought about boosting the score about more as this is so good compared to other wheatwines that it’s drinkability is by definition good or a bit higher.

UPDATED: JUN 15, 2015 bottle. Golden orange with minimal head. the taste is very unique with lots of blood orange. alcohol is extremely well hidden for the crazy ABV. this is an awesome beer. northernbrews (25) - Allen Park, Michigan, USA - MAY 4, 2009
Another winner from Short’s.
Pours a dark brown with hints of red and purple in the snifter. Nice khaki head with nice lacing. Served w/ a slice of blood orange......Starts with a blast of citrusy hops, mostly orange and grapefruit. There’s a little hint of the spices and faint malt background........Taste follows suit with some citrusy hops up front and some malt and spices near the finish. There’s also a nice tartness from the blood oranges.......Nice blend of unique flavors that goes down too easily for something so hoppy and strong......sure wish they’d bottle this, but I’m sure glad I was able to try it.......Congrats Short’s on a great 5 years and many more! Courtesy of jdubFL, wow! thanks Justin! Growler poured out clear copper with thin off white head. The aroma is IIPA like with fresh rich citrus, pine and grassiness and then a mild malt like sweetness. The taste is yummy with fresh rich citrus flavors, some pine hop bitterness, spicy rye notes, some drying malt roastiness and a thin layer of sweet maltiness. These notes all head off into the finish with the addition of a pleasing black tea like sensation that brings the whole thing together. This beers is fresh, rich citrus, robust, pummeling hops and yet manages to create a semblance of balance too. Wow! I need a keg or two of this. ninotchka22 (3) - Oxnard, California, USA - JUL 31, 2013 does not count
Bottle thanks to mikem409!
The aroma was lively with the blood orange really coming through and a subtle smell of pepper. It really piqued my interest. The taste didn’t disappoint. The blood orange was just as strong as it was in the nose and the peppercorn gave it just the right kick. Really a unique beer that I’ve got to have again!
