amber to garnet liquid pours out of the 12 oz bottle, apparently the 2010 version of the this ale. sweet and orangey, with no discernible hops and a hint of spice (evidently peppercorn). huge malt and sugar backbone obscure the 11.7% which isn’t particularly noticeable until the finish. an interesting beer, with a touch of wheaty starchiness that i feel it could do without. worth trying but probably only once... Bottle pour shared by Jason.
Amber with no head. Much orange in the nose with some tartness. Flavor is strange, tart with orange. Decent palate. I just didn’t dig this. SpongeRuiner (1114) - Michigan, USA - APR 29, 2014
Pours a delicious looking bright red orange color. A foamy egg white layer on the head. A very juicy blood orange aroma that really jumps out. The tastes really follow along with blood orange based flavors. A citrus candy like taste mixed in. A pepper note/small spice make an appearance in the back mouth feel. A really nice aftertaste with that berry orange flavor. A slight hop bitterness closes out the flavors. Really good. Very unique. walleye (1102) - Sterling Heights, Michigan, USA - JUN 11, 2010
pored a rose color with no head. aroma orange, hops, red grapefruit, nectarine, pink cotton candy spices. flavor semi sweet orange, pepper, grapefruit that isn’t quite ripe ( in a good way) alcohol, . left a nice dry feeling. good beer mixmasterob (1060) - Atlanta, Georgia, USA - SEP 19, 2011
Bottle thanks to rayl101. Murky dark orange pour with a small white head. Aroma was big time fruit, a touch of sweet malt, some funk, tart. Grapefruit juice. Flavors were heavy on the bitter grapefruit, tart sourness, lots of bittersweet fruits. Finish was big time blood orange and bitter grapefruit juice. Interesting stuff indeed. Fun brew!

Bottle, pours almost like a soda with vibrant red/brown/orange color and lots of carbonation right off the bat, it quickly dissipates. Lots of wheat and oranges on the nose and a hint of hops. Flavor is something I’ve never tasted before, serious amount of the orange sweetness and a slight bitter bite along with a tiny bit of pepper in there. At room temp I only get a slight alcohol burn. Something dances around on the tongue that is difficult to pin down, maybe the acidity along with the alcohol. In any case an extraordinarily unique beer and enjoyable. Might try again with some age on it. BeerBunker (966) - Burbank, Illinois, USA - MAY 15, 2015
12oz bottle. Pours orange with almost no head. Aroma is of oranges, pepper, and wheat. Taste is big on acidic blood orange with a very peppery finish. After a few sips, you get even more orange. Finish very dry and peppery. The peppery, acidic taste makes it hard to really enjoy. Not my thing. bwa5879 (962) - Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA - MAY 22, 2012
Deep red, almost brown clear pour that produced lots of bubbles on te inside of the shaker it was poured into. Half inch orange cream head. Hoppy garlic pepper aroma. Sweet rich flavor. Hoppy, lots of distinctly orange flavor. Alcohol content is evident on the finish as are the peppercorns. dalekliz (927) - New Jersey, USA - MAY 18, 2013
2013 edition, on tap at the brewpub. Pours a brownish amber with a white ring. Aroma of blood oranges, malt, wheat, and a hint of peppercorn. Taste is a huge batter between blood oranges and pepper, which ends with peppercorn bitterness. Lingering peppery orange. Very tasty. JoePeesie (924) - Long Lake, Illinois, USA - MAY 20, 2012
Love the color of this beer, looks like a blood orange. Very little head on this guy. Strange beer. The flavors are as described on the label, but not terribly balanced. I really think I like the theory behind this beer more than the beer itself.
