Poured from a 12oz bottle from Manny57. Pours a nice caramel color with minimal head. Smell is heavy on the orange rind. Tastes of orange rind, some nice spices and a little hop character in the back. Tasty. HonusWagner (2168) - Florida, USA - APR 4, 2011
UPDATED: AUG 25, 2013 Probably the best beer I’ve ever had from Short’s. Incredibly lively orange sweetness goes perfectly with a thick, lightly spicy barley wine of caramel goodness. This beer owned. And I want more.
Has fallen a bit for me recently, this batch was too peppercorn-heavy to be really drinkable.

Thanks to jblauvs for this one. Very murky brown pour with a small fizzy head. Nose holds excellent and BIG orange presence (zest and fruit), coriander and further spices, pink peppercorn, and nice sweet malt presence. Really interesting nose. Flavor isn’t quite as robust but still holds huge citrus presence with tart orange, lemon zest, and spice. Really phenomenal dryness to the palate, and ridiculously drinkable given the ABV. Very interesting, and I like it a lot. Jblauvs (1358) - Chester, Vermont, USA - JUL 31, 2011
Very Murky brown pour with a fizzy white head. Aroma is bold orange fruit, coriander, some white pepper. Flavor is less intense than the nose, but still nice - herbal notes are restrained, not over the top. blood orange comes though in a big way, sweet fruit and bitter pith, the finish is surprisingly dry. Wow, probably the best shorts I’ve had to date. Very tasty jbrana (640) - NASHVILLE, Tennessee, USA - MAY 15, 2013
2013 Bottle. This is slightly less blood orange focused that some of the older versions I've had, however still quite good. Has strong orange zest flavor with grapefruit flavored hops (Amarillo?). Tastes sweet and smooth, with a nice crispness and booziness.

12 ounce bottle. Pours a translucent copper with no head. Orange zest and sugary malt with just a hint at peppercorns. Candied orange peel comes through as well. A little tartness sneaks in there in the finish. Interesting stuff. SpongeRuiner (1114) - Michigan, USA - APR 29, 2014
Pours a delicious looking bright red orange color. A foamy egg white layer on the head. A very juicy blood orange aroma that really jumps out. The tastes really follow along with blood orange based flavors. A citrus candy like taste mixed in. A pepper note/small spice make an appearance in the back mouth feel. A really nice aftertaste with that berry orange flavor. A slight hop bitterness closes out the flavors. Really good. Very unique. after4ever (8025) - Mukilteo, Washington, USA - MAY 15, 2009
Growler. Thanks, BVC! Pours deep muddy brownish orange with a loose ring of grayish bubbles. No lace. Tons of sharp blood oranges hit you on the nose right away. A little sweeter and tangier than Campari, for sure, but you still brace yourself for that bitter jolt that you know is coming. Creamy medium body, and then the onslaught of flavor varieties starts--sweet pepperiness, dark spiciness, earthy notes, black bread, but, most of all, orange zest and that sharp blood orange bitterness that hits you like a wet towel snapping on the back of your legs. Bracing and refreshing, while still being ultra complex and interesting. A real classic for these guys--would be a shame to see it relegated to one-off status. nbutler11 (1267) - Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, ENGLAND - JUL 22, 2009
Snifter at the brewery. Pours a dark shade of copper - much like a barleywine - with a creamy tan head. Smells of black pepper, malt, and citrus. Tastes of underripe oranges, particularly the zest, along with plenty of malt, further pepper notes, and an unapologetic finish. A bit of a beast. riversideAK (6260) - Shoreline, Washington, USA - SEP 12, 2009
bvc you are the man, man for sharing this rarity. Shared this with some cool dudes on the roof of my girlfriends apartment. Cool dudes present were bvc, suzygreenberg, me, mj, tar, and after4ever. Super spicy hop nose, lots of orange citrus. Earth as well. Really intriguing nose on this one. Dark amber pour nice lasting head. The flavor is full of citrus and spice. Oranges, pepper, and earthy bitterness. Perhaps a little too spicy for my liking, but it still was fantastic nonetheless. Light alcohol warmth, but at 11.7% it was hidden well. Fuck yeah hoes! Hey Terrel Pryor, you should learn to go through your progressions please!
