• Modest essential benevolence of humanity
• Beer Type: Double Red Ale

Aorta Ale is a double red ale that indicates an intensity of flavor simply by its dark reddish-brown appearance. Subtle aromas of candy, brown sugar, and toasted malt are released from the depths of this full bodied beast. Raisins, figs, and burnt caramel are among the sweeter and more forward flavors. It finishes with a roasted cocoa like bitterness, which is magnified by the high alpha hops.

Brown, creamy beige head. Dry fruit, sugared melon, rye bread. Taste is more rye. Fatty, sugary taste and a body to support it. Dead hops in the end. Bit dusty maybe. Good malty base, really nice brew. (At the De Molen tasting)

Bottle. Aroma is rye, hops, more rye, caramel. Flavour is quite bitter of rye and hops, then some malt and caramel sweetness. Nice.

Bottle. Decent malty nose with fruit and spices. Taste was nearly undrinkable like many other Shorts brews. Not sure what is going on with this beer.

Appearance is a nice red as the names suggests. Smells hoppy and like rye. definitely some dry malt in there. Taste is dry and hoppy. Pretty nice beer. There are definitely some spices in here as well. Coats the mouth. Kind of a thick beer. I enjoyed this.

Pours dark ruby red with little head. Big hop aroma. Very floral and fruity. Hops hit hard at first, very floral and grassy. Then turns a little fruity and spicy and ends with the taste of caramel malt. Very dry finish. I don’t usually like reds very much but I really like this one.

12 oz. bottle. Deep, rich red pour with a large tan head. Aroma of citrus, rich red cake, sweet malt, caramel, some pine and grapefruit. Flavor is rich, with a strong hop notes, medium bitterness, light sweetness, light cherries, some toffee. A bit of chocolate. Nice, medium heading towards full bodied, appropriate carbonation, finishes with a sharp spike of citrus hops. Good beer. Though, I expected as much.

Dark red in color with a soapy white head. Nice citric aroma. Good hoppiness and fruit character. Grapefruit is strong on the nose. A solid malt aroma as well; lots of toast and roast. The bitterness is far more pronounced than expected with pine and grapefruit peel. A nice citrus and fruit flavor to it as well. Some toasted bread and toffee give a mild sweetness.

Bottle. Aroma has notes of caramel and cereal malts, slight infection(no surprise from a Short’s beer), and grass. Dark reddish brown hue with a small off-white head that mostly diminished and left spotted lace. Flavor is very sweet and lightly bitter. Palate is full bodied and oily soft. Overall this was probably a decent beer but with the shitty 3rd world bottling process no one will ever know. The malt character is decent and what I can still piece together the beer might be worth trying on tap; at the brewery; right after it was kegged.

Draft at central city tap house Kzoo. Nice softer fruity hop aroma. Hazy dark red body with smooth tight bubble off white head? Not much lace. Really strong brew with plenty of alcohol and sweetness. Excellent American strong. A little early in the day for this one. Excellent. I continue to be impressed with Shorts

Bottle thanks to FlandersNed. Deep amber/red/brown with thick foamy off-white head. Light grapefruit hops, toasted malt and faint sugary caramel malt. Flavor is initially sticky toasted malt and light fruitiness which gives way to moderate to solid grapefruit hop bitterness. Semi-dry and wood-like finish. Some lingering toasted malt and fruit as well. Lightly creamy mouthfeel. All around solid.
