Bottle shared with koleminer20, out of Dumpster Day box #1. Aroma is sweet malt, figs, brown sugar, cookies, pretty nice. Appearance is brown, light brown head, hazy. Taste is figs, cookie, bready, brown sugar, pretty much how it smells. Mouthfeel is medium body and carbonation, a booze aftertaste. Overall, not great but also not bad. djd07 (15544) - Houston, Texas, USA - JUL 16, 2015
Bottle thanks to Brian. Pours a cloudy copper with small white head that diminishes to nothing. The aroma is caramel, candy sugar, toffee. Medium mouth, very sweet, candy sugar, toffee, spice finish, good. jbrana (640) - NASHVILLE, Tennessee, USA - MAR 30, 2015
Sweet, dark fruit, brown sugar, and crisp. Very good. Would buy again. Well done Short's. b3shine (9145) - Indiana, USA - FEB 20, 2015
Bottle to snifter. Looks decent; a lot of fine sediment in the last 20% of the bottle though. A murky amberish brown with light caramel head that steadily dissipates into lacing. Smells malty with notes of caramel and toffee. Tastes like it smells with some hops. Mouthfeel is medium full-bodied. More like a barleywine than an old ale IMO; underwhelming either way though. mikem409 (2029) - bloomfield, Michigan, USA - FEB 9, 2015
Tap at the union. Color is muddy brown minimal head. Aroma of nuts and leather. Taste is sweet dried fruit, musty leather and toffee.

Bottle. The pour is a rich ruby color with a thick head. The aroma is rich of a old ale. The taste has a little bite to it, a little bitter. Solid beer from these guys

12 ounce bottle into snifter, bottled on 12/8/2014. Pours hazy/cloudy dark reddish brown color with a small dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of big caramel, toast, toffee, brown sugar, brown bread, raisin, plum, apple, fig, light chocolate, herbal, and yeast earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/bready malt, fruity yeast, and light earthy hop notes; with good strength. Taste of big caramel, toast, toffee, brown sugar, brown bread, raisin, plum, fig, apple, light chocolate, herbal, and yeast earthiness. Minimal earthy herbal bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, toast, toffee, brown sugar, brown bread, raisin, plum, fig, apple, light chocolate, and herbal/yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity and robustness of dark/bready malt, fruity yeast, and light earthy hop flavors; with a great malt/yeast balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light-medium carbonation and medium bodied; with a very smooth and moderately creamy/bready mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a light warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very nice old ale style. All around good complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready malt, fruity yeast, and light earthy hop flavors; and very smooth to sip on for the big ABV. A very enjoyable offering. Gloomy dark brown, very few bubbles, thin tan head. Aroma of figs and raisins. Malty, dark fruit flavor. Heavy body. Slight hop flavor adds tang, but this is a sweet brew. It’s bitter cold outside, and this is perfect for a night like this.
